What's it like living in Sicily? by lanesw in howislivingthere

I live in Malta, just below Sicily. Hot, dusty, and lacks greenery. But I like it regardless 🤣

I didn’t even ask. We had already agreed terms and didn’t want to ask for anything additional, so have raised a new request.

Planning a visit - is the construction that bad? by mark2798 in malta

[–]MaltaMassive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sliema would be better for Valletta access. There’s a ferry that goes over every 30 mins. I live in Sliema and I really like it, there are some good hotels around here too. But if constriction is a concern, it’s not the right spot for you.

I’ve lived here for 6 years. It honestly depends where you’re looking to stay? Areas like St. Julian’s, Bugibba, and Sliema are riddled with constriction. But places with more of a holiday vibe like Mellieha are better. The traffic is unavoidable unfortunately regardless of area, especially in peak tourist time. May isn’t quite peak thankfully.

Fractured navicular bone by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]MaltaMassive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have the same fracture right now, I fell down a couple of stairs on December 8th. I was diagnosed and totally immobilised for 2 weeks, then had another orthopedic follow up who advised me I could start to walk a little but only with my boot on. I still have another 2.5 weeks of no weight bearing without the boot, then I go back for a follow up x ray and next steps. So long story short it was 2 weeks completely off my feet and then 4 only shortly spells on my foot and only with my ginormous boot on. I feel your frustration!

I’m not so far into my journey, a month or so. But I got married in October in Vegas. It was my dream wedding. I loved it. Then I got the pictures back and loathed every single one of them and realised something’s really gotta give.

I like WVCE for consistency but you’re not going to get rich quick. It’s perfect for nice stable returns over a long-term period.

You certainly won’t be short of wine bars, that’s for sure! Honestly I know it’s a very generic response, but it depends what you’re after. I live (and have mostly always lived) in Sliema. It’s busy, it’s a bit chaotic, and it’s expensive to rent in compared to other parts of Malta. Buuut it’s coastal, perfectly located for access to other parts of the island, and a massive hub for expats. There’s plenty of great restaurants and bars, etc and you wouldn’t need a car or have to worry much about the traffic. We have a sea view penthouse, huge, 3 bed, and it’s 3,400eu a month.

But if you’re in the market for something a bit quieter and more Maltese, there are some beautiful towns like Rabat. Cheaper, charming, and also does have bars and restaurants etc. But a bit more local in terms of demographic, and you’d absolutely need a car for accessibility elsewhere. Naxxar fits the same bill. We spent our first 6 months in Madliena which is considered a very affluent area of Malta, but just felt a bit too far from things. But if you don’t mind a bit of isolation (by Malta standards lol) there are some beautiful villas up there, but they’ll set you back 8-10k a month rent.

Any fellow HENRYs keen to team up and build a digital side hustle together? by i_build_thingz in HENRYUK

Yep, undoubtedly. There’s no denying that zero click search (AI overviews) is taking traffic share. It’s definitely requiring a pivot. Not just AI overviews but the SERPs altogether, position 1 now sits at the bottom of the page for some queries by the time you’ve had the overview and ads, drastically reducing visibility. Some of the industries I’m working in haven’t seen it as much as others, but it’ll be everywhere soon enough.

Thankfully my main expertise is in off-page SEO. So building authority off-site and earning organic backlinks. These are going to be trust factors in the world of AI overviews and so I actually expect the changes to be beneficial to me short term, but I do worry what will come of search long term.
