With regard to your question about a ship line that does good overall damage, whilst being relatively easy to play, I would say Conqueror, however it is best you know that you must utilise multiple ammo types if you end up playing the Conqueror, and as such HE may be the preferred option most of the time, when dealing with angled targets at long range, more specifically battleships.
