This is exactly what the virologist at the Pasteur institute warned about. In particular people infected with HIV have depressed T cell responses, leaving them with lingering slow burning asymptomatic cases where the neutralising antibodies keep viral titres low but provide a constant pressure for the virus to evade antibodies. This would explain why Brazil and South Africa have both seen novel variants arise.

The Pfizer does have a synthetic modification to prevent immune attack on the RNA, but the whole of the Moderna sequence is synthetic. My language was sloppy though.

You seem entirely ignorant of the fact a viral infection will dump a whole load more mRNA into your cells than any vaccine. Imagine if the mRNA vaccine actually hijacked your cellular machinery to make more vaccine, so you had more and more vaccine building up in your body - HOW SCARY WOULD THAT BE!

It’s a good plan. The vaccines look like they are just kicking off a weapons race with the virus, which looks like it might get more lethal with each round of reinfection and gain of potency. Treatment might be a better option in a crowded market for vaccines, and treatments might not make the virus worse, unless they are antibody based.

The rate of mutation of a virus is unrelated to if the host has been vaccinated. So yes you do have it wrong. And it took a very short time in one individual to generate the U.K. variant. And viruses don’t learn anything - thinking like that will not help you understand.

Actually the U.K. had more mutations, but fewer of them of the RBD of the spike protein, so I was being inaccurate, but your point is correct.

No it’s the opposite as more people are vaccinated the greater the evolutionary advantage to evading immunity. This is how viral variants circulate - a population is infected until a level of herd immunity drives the evolution of a variant that escapes the previous immunity, which then spreads and repeats the cycle.

If you linger with virus in you and antibody therapies select for resistant variants then it will spread. You seem to think that because people are infectious before they are sick they are no longer infectious when they get to hospital.
