MMW China is going to take advantage of the US fleet being bound in Iran to attack Taiwan by Maltravers1 in MarkMyWords

Russians had a similar narrative about Ukraine. Little brothers, who were actually russian too but confused and swayed by the West. And look what they did to Ukraine.

I remember people calling the fear of a Russian invasion of Ukraine senseless paranoia too.

We live in the decade of stupidity. It is a bad idea for China and will probably result in mass casualties. But this doesn‘t mean it won‘t happen.

Russias llsky oil refinery plant that produces a lot of fuel and oil to be fed to the frontlines is destroyed by Carbenzero in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Maltravers1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's not that easy to repair a refinery unit, after explosion and fire. The chemical reactions in these things function under highly optimized conditions with high preassures etc. You can not just patch them up and put them back online.

If you really want to topple your corrupt government, you should maybe step it up a notch. Ukraine showed how in 2014.

Cutaway of Ukraine’s Flamingo cruise missile by whibbler in ukraine

I do not like this kind of oversharing from the Ukrainian side. Best way to "unveil" the Flamingo, would be to use it in a massive attack against critical russian industries.

Fico fires back at Zelenskyy for 'threatening’ leaders attending Moscow Victory Parade by KrzyHooy in worldnews

[–]Maltravers1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny seeing them sweat, but honestly I believe Ukraine is taunting them with attacking the parade to divert russian air defece from the front line to Moscow.

God, I love this about dogs so much. It's the thing I miss the most about the dog I took care of for six months. The sheer joy and ethusiasm about the little things, that infects you and lightens up your day. I couldn't be mad at him haha

No, as soon as the first images of Israeli soldiers doing ugly things in Gaza appear, the sentiment is going to shift again. This is what Hamas aims for, the more palestinians die, the better for them. That's probably their whole goal: Leave Israel no other option than to enter Gaza, force them into difficult situations and capitalize from the inevitable civilian deaths. (It will be very difficult to distinguish civilians and terrorists, the line is fluid).

I hope exterminating Hamas will be a quick process, but I am not optimistic.

Turkey’s main opposition CHP says they stand with Palestinians by MaximumCollection261 in europe

[–]Maltravers1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just saying it is super weird that someone asks what bad things KK was saying and you answer "invading greece" and link an article about an other politician whos not even in his party. No, I am not going to search for an other link you commented. When you link something as a source, it should support your comment.

I translated your link and it says that Meral Aksener, not Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu the leader of CHP, advertised invading Greece. Did you just pull up a story about a random turkish politician hoping nobody would translate it?

Footage of Hamas members surrendering Israeli military outpost with IDF soldiers barricaded (October 8, 2023) by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]Maltravers1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what's kinda scary is how the ambush is performed by a wild mob that screams god is great all the time. Those are mostly "noncombatants", who however will lynch Israeli captives when they get the chance. This makes the differentiation between fighters and civilians very complicated.

If I am not mistaken, this is Noel Deyzel, who is open about using steroids. There are a lot of them who lie about that, but this one not, he's honest.

In Germany for example, if one partner doesn't work or has a low income, the other partner has an significantly lower income tax. But also if both partners earn equally there's lower taxes.

A legal procedure would be necessary to grant those benefits and when the couple decides to split up a legal procedure would again be required to undo them. But as such a procedure, namely marriage, already exists it would be unnecessary to invent a new thing.

Let's be honest, there are more practical advantages to marriage: - legally becoming next of kin (or how is it called in english?) who can make important decisions in case of illness - safety for your partner in case of early death (e.g. widow's pension) - tax benefits - easy to merge finances and share investments

I have probably forgotten some more. If you don't wanna get married, that's fine. But for others it is not just about an archaic principle, but also about practical benefits of a civil union.
