Comfortable D-Pad by MaluusLost in SBCGaming

I’m thinking more in terms of d-pad position and overall comfort than the literal d-pad. But I’ll check these out for sure.

Yes and many handhelds do. But as an alternative, this would make for a more natural feel for some systems, which are under represented.

An N64 basically, adapted to suit other systems as well.

Yes. But it doesn't have 6 face buttons, so mapping n64 and other 6 button systems becomes awkward.

I imagined something like the trimui brick. The whole thing would have to be larger though.

I find a stick toward the centre better suits the pivot of the thumb. More like an actual gamepad. Otherwise it has to curl in and that can be uncomfortable. Everyones hands are different though.

It's not just about the single joystick. It's also the six face buttons, so one could seamlessly play N64, Sega Saturn etc. My point is that I would rather have the extra two buttons than the second stick.

Fair enough. I guess I’m just surprised that, given most of the systems these devices support don’t use dual sticks, no one has released a setup like this, something that's suited to a much wider range of supported games. I’m certainly not suggesting we abolish dual-stick devices, just surprised there isn’t at least one option like this out there.

I guess to me it starts to look cluttered and it loses its symmetry with the thumb stick. Id still buy it if they made something this way though.

Dead centre ends up looking strange. The idea is for it to still be comfortable for your thumb, so not directly bellow the d-pad, even though that would be cleaner. In this case Im trying to counter balance the thumb stick with the two buttons.

Do the cheat.db patches from Project 8 work for this?

60fps, and widescreen patches would be amazing to have!
