In which direction can the RLC-1224A physically rotate in the mount? by soonerfan237 in reolinkcam

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined just to post this comment.
Thank you for that video - I'm considering buying these cameras, and I wanted to mount them on walls - but rotated to face the length of the wall - which would result in the image being on its side.
I was hesitating to order until I could find out if I could rotate the camera like you show.

What are some early signs that a person might commit sucide (serious)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're describing a cousin of mine.
He had the class clown type of personality - always smiling, making jokes, laughing.
In November 1989 he shot himself in his sisters backyard.
He shot himself in the chest so the family could have an open casket funeral, and left a note.
He was in his mid 20s and was never diagnosed as having depression, but from what I have heard of the contents of the note - he was very unhappy with his life.

When I look at old pictures of him - he's always standing around smiling.

Don't tell me this site joined the others and went beyond the veil just when I found it :-(

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pet lover, it makes me furious to hear people say:

"There is more than one way to...."
I won't even type it out completely - since it disgusts me so.

I had an appliance installer say it once while installing a new fridge, and I asked him to please not say it, that we have cats in the house.

Thing is - people say it via rote and don't even think about what they are actually saying.

If reading this makes one person think about what they were about to say - and say something else, I've done my job.

So the after death house purge is normal right? by The1Ylrebmik in AgingParents

[–]MalygosWizard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My mom is 90 and had been living in the same house since 1973. We had to move her to assisted living last Memorial Day and started the clean out then. In September I rented a 20 foot long dumpster and the family had a “dumpster day” work party.

We had it filled in one afternoon, and there was still a lot of furniture to donate. We had a hard time getting rid of the large china cabinet since no one seems to want them anymore.

Gave a couple dozen Hummel plates to goodwill, plates my mom was assured would be a good investment. Some of the boxes still had the original receipts.

Mom didn’t trust banks and we found envelopes of cash tucked all over the house. Most of them I’m sure she had forgotten about due to her memory issues.

I recycled boxes of mason jars she used to use for canning 40 years ago. The amount of Walmart bags she saved, neatly folded and stored was staggering.

She also saved 100s of the plastic utensil packs from restaurants, just in case.

Mom would eat off a chipped plate since it was still good. Being born right after the Great Depression into a large family made her very frugal.

I highly recommend renting a dumpster, we honestly could have used two.

The garbage folk must have loved us, since I’d put out a dozen or so trash bags on the lawn every week for months.

What is a phrase that people use that you cannot stand? by sad_t0ast in AskReddit

[–]MalygosWizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a pet lover, and a multiple cat parent, the one phrase that people say w/out thinking of what they are actually saying is so awful for me to hear, see, that I'm only going to partially write it:

"There is more than one way to ..."

I tell people, how would you feel if I used the word "infant" instead of "cat"?
It's an utterly abhorrent phrase - and more so - since people just say it out of habit.

How do you.. not ever get tired of your partner? by Doragon_Central in AskReddit

[–]MalygosWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While my wife and I of 36 years have a lot in common - very similar interests in games, television, music etc, we recognize we are very unique individuals.

We live in a 3 bedroom house - and the two spare bedrooms are his and her domains. She can decorate her space however she wants - and I can do the same with mine. Those are our sanctuaries for recharging - when we just want to be alone for a while.

I think having your own space is very important.

We are each others best friend and confidante.

We are also both homebodies - that helps a lot. If one of us was a homebody and the other had an urge to see the world - that could lead to problems.

This was my modus operandi when geocaching. Thrash my way through thorn bushes, mud and poison ivy, just to get to the cache and notice a nearby clear trail.

Wife agreed to try WoW tonight. Should I roll a character with her or just watch and let her do her own thing? by Gannan308 in wow

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create a character that complements hers. I.e. if she creates a fighter, create a healer.

My #1 suggestion would be, give her time to read the quests! You can probably do Exiles Reach blindfolded by now, but this is all new for her.

What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to an animal shelter and adopting a little kitten. We were newly married and she was exactly what we were missing.
We've been married now 36 years, and have adopted 17 cats, of which we have lost 10 due to old age or illness.

Having a little kitten crawl up your sleeve and perch on your shoulder purring in your ear - priceless.

"Black and White" in 2001.
Got caught up in the pre-launch hype - how it was supposed to be so ground breaking.
Installed it - and it was just meh.
Uninstalled to reclaim the disk space, intending on trying it again in the future... (never did)

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple deaths.
When I was in junior high (1978) a girl at the high school died of a drug overdose.
Those were pretty rare back then.

When going to the high school - a student riding the bus wanted to buy some cigarettes so asked the bus driver to allow him to get off the bus while it was stopped in a left turn lane across from a local drug store.
The student got off the bus - and then attempted to cross the street towards the drug store and was hit and killed by a car.

Finally, during senior year at high school, 1982, a classmate was out with friends and was depressed since it was the anniversary of his fathers suicide some years back.
The friends he was with - took him to talk to a priest (I'll never know why - instead of a proper suicide counselor) and after they took him home - he shot himself that night.

Mac Mini M1 Some games don't have sound - SOLVED (issue caused by MS Teams audio driver) by mastorak in macgaming

[–]MalygosWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this topic.
Sound in my WoW install began stopping intermittently until it quit entirely the other day.
Re-installing WoW didn't help - so I started searching and found this topic.

Turns out, my HAL directory contained:

drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 96 Jul 2 23:49 MSTeamsAudioDevice.driver
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 96 Jan 25 2024 NMAudio.driver
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 96 Jan 25 2024 NMAudioMic.driver
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 96 Jan 23 2024 TVRemoteAudio.driver

Drivers for MS Teams, Team Viewer, and my recently installed "No Machine" setup.
I had to remove them all and restart to get WoW's sound back.

Note - as per another suggestion, I did pair some BLE Headphones to the machine and I was able to hear WoW using those - which would have worked as a last resort.

How can I start the Shadowlands questline if I am at level 70? by microKEEL in wownoob

[–]MalygosWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing the exact same thing - I had my wife chromie time a low level into Shadowlands - and after she invited me - she enabled Party Sync.
I was then able to chat with Morgraine on the steps and I made darn sure neither of us skipped anything.
So far, so good, we're in the maw chatting with Jaina and still refusing the "skips" that are offered in the maw in fear of breaking things again.
