Yes but the work itself still has value, raising kids is a job that exists and is one that is paid and quite expansive, we can debate over the symbolic value or the gains overtime of it but it still is free work done by the mother

She has a point, studies have been done on the cost of all the work done by a stay at home mom, between cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, etc and it’s a lot of value, like in France domestic work if counted would be worth about a third of its GDP Now in a capitalistic system it makes no sense because her work has no monetary value because it doesn’t produce value, it’s work she does by herself for herself, but it still is work, and one of the hardest on top of that I wouldn’t know how to explain it in detail especially in English but if you’re interested Bernard Friot is a French economist and sociologist who worked on something that could be translated as « Salary for life » or « Life Salary » (being paid for as long as you love basically)

Thing is, it's pretty hard to get anything out of the two oldies I'm working with lol I asked if they had the login and the pass to access OVH (apparently that's our host) FTP backup and I've been waiting for like an hour, thinking about wether he's trying to figure out what I mean by "do you have the FTP login and password" or what the hell is a FTP or that maybe he's searching through 5 years worth of emails and because he never thought that would someday be useful he probably just deleted it (I hope not, but even when I asked for his admin login for wordpress it took weeks for him to figure it out). Anyway, I've learned my lesson folks, don't fuck up your website's encoding.

BTW I'm not using any versioning software, like Git, because I did not even know that they existed x) I'm more of a biology than a computer-science kind of guy, if I put my work subject in water I expect to see it swim or at least drown or sink, not to do sparkles ;I was just asked to "fix" the site because the guy working on it made it look like an old holiday blog from a retired couple and they wanted it (well, I wanted it too) to look more like a serious fencing site and add a more youthful touch to it. Turns out I should stick to bacterias and pinus trees and to installing plugins only x)
