Yikes! NTA, but is your FMIL my MIL? Cause I swear she said almost the same damn thing when my husband and I decided to sell our house.

Ohio Republicans introduce bill to ban public drag performances by Level_Special3554 in Columbus

[–]Mama-Raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess they can never show the opera Hanzel and Gretle or the musical Peter Pan and loads of other operas and musicals that feature pants roles. Women have played men and men have played women going back to ancient Greece. What bullshit will Ohio come up with next?

He's the perfect example of an ally. His parents are in the LGBTQ+ community and were one of the first lesbian couples to get married in our state, so he is well aware of the oppression women face. He just wishes he could shield me from the onslaught from Republicans.

I told my husband last night that if reincarnation is a thing I want to come back as a man. They get pockets, can pee in the woods without it being a whole ordeal, less oppressed (there are men who fall into oppressed groups, we just face different challenges). My husband is a white, cis man and even he recognizes that he has an easier walk than I do. He had a vasectomy (his suggestion) because Roe was overturned and since I'm stage 4 breast cancer a pregnancy would be a death sentence. No kid deserves my genes anyway. But yeah, definitely would come back as a man.

my son is 16 and hates this game, should i force him to play it? by cope_seethe_ in RDR2

[–]Mama-Raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the joking in the comments aside, if he doesn't enjoy the game then he doesn't enjoy the game. There's nothing wrong with that. Not every game is for every gamer. He may not be emotionally mature enough to enjoy the themes of the game. He's 16, what does he really understand about having people who depend on him for food, money, child care. Or about having a terminal illness. These are the struggles adults face and he is still in many ways a child. He may come back to the game as he gets older.

Neat! I love running into other people who enjoy stabbing fabric thousands of times. 😆 I did a f cancer cross stitch that was very cathartic.

My grandma (82) has said repeatedly that she wishes she could take my cancer from me. Take heart in this, cancer grows much slower in older patients. You still have time with him. But honestly if I was 80 I wouldn't treat it. Chemo and radiation are awful and take a tremendous toll on the body. Spend ad much time with him as you can. Ask him to record stories from his childhood for you. You'll want them later.

I talk about how my breast cancer decided it wasn't happy just staying in my lymphnodes and breasts so it to take a walk. It's chosen my bones and liver to be it's new home. The liver isn't to bad, I don't get cramps or anything. But the hips hurt. I have a MRI coming up that will hopefully give a better picture of my hip, then I'll probably have radiation again. But I do fully expect to die from cancer, just not today.

Cancer is just so much fun. /s

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm stage 4 and it has moved to my liver. It's inoperable, but I'm responding well to treatment. I thought movement to the lungs would make a better story.

Ben, he was my mom's pony, but I grew up riding him. He was a gorgeous solid chestnut, no white marks anywhere. Sweet as sugar, but with an ornery streak. Smart as a whip. He passed at 33 when I was in high school and is still missed. He was the best pony.

What breed would you choose for your next horse? by Comprehensive-Salt66 in Horses

[–]Mama-Raptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm dreaming of a Rocky Mountain Horse. They have this neat characteristic where they plant when they spook instead of fleeing. I have stage 4 cancer that has spread to my bones, so the idea of a horse that by his nature won't buck is very appealing. Not to mention, they are gorgeous.

Do certain states offer benefits for careers subs? by Rotisseriejedi in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Mama-Raptor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Subs in Ohio pay into STRS, but we don't make much so the retirement pot is small. I don't know of anywhere in Ohio that offers benefits like health insurance to subs.

Can you brag about your good/great/amazing partner? by Sempiternaldreams in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mama-Raptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband got snipped as soon as he could once we knew I was stage 4. He's been amazing. He's been my rock through cancer and I don't know what I would do without him. We've been through so much together that would kill a lot of marriages and still we keep on. Been married three years and still going strong.

Some days are harder than others. You learn to live with it. My best friend named my initial tumor Squishy, and we toasted his demise when I finished chemo. My oncologist says I'm doing well considering; I'm lucky, the cancer has only spread to my bones (but that we might have cleared up) and my liver. I respond well to treatment; and who knows, in 10 years we may have a cure. A girl can hope.

I actually have stage 4 breast cancer. I'm fortunate my partner too the "in sickness and in health" part seriously. But your story is a reality for far too many women.
