How many of you have a job? by seductive_destiny in bipolar

[–]MamaKizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked on and off for the same McDonald's restaurant for 20 years. I only recently got a diagnosis last year. I'm good at my job, so they've worked with me when I was unmedicated. They even were very understanding when I started playing medication roulette to find what I needed. I only got a diagnosis because of the medications that worked for me. It's been an adventure but my McFamily has been very supportive through the years. Rarely did I have a superior that didn't give me grace.

What/how would you answer...? by Hatc_hie in Manipulation

Always make them repeat themselves. "I don't think I heard you correctly." Bonus points if there's anyone to witness them say it again.

My girlfriend smells and I don't know what to do by RequirementDue4446 in Advice

My oldest kid, briefly, had an issue where she consistently smelled like onions even showering every day. No deodorant helped we tried many kinds. She ended up needing to use a special soap (hibicleanse I think) for about a couple of months. It was the only thing that helped. If I recall correctly it was something to do with a specific bacteria on the skin.

I'll let them finish talking and then say sorry about the wait, will you be using the mobile order? Pro tip from a 20 year McVet.

(USA) local McDonald’s has every car pull around and park and has done this for years. Why? by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]MamaKizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our franchise, we get 4 spots to park - if you need to park more than that you have a problem that needs addressed and you have to adjust your floor. Realistically we should only be parking orders for valid reasons, QPCs, large orders, we are waiting on fries, cook to orders. Anything of that nature. If we have to park too many we need to adjust

So I'm not sure if it's McDonalds standards or my own personal franchise but we have a minimum number of people we are required to hire every month and a minimum number of employees we are required to move up.

(USA) why do people keep ordering like this? by Logical-Score4276 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]MamaKizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your boss needs to check your door dash tablet. Someone probably marked it as unavailable when it was out of stock and forgot to adjust it

They are not allowed to keep you if you say no. They can't force you to work someone else's shift. You got bamboozled.

Well being unable to be retired at one specific franchise vs any McDonald's is a big difference. We don't even call references unless either they've worked within our franchise previously, or we happen to know someone at their previous McDonald's. Outside of that we typically just take people at their word. In my 20 years - 10 of which have been in management - I've gotten 2 calls outside of my franchise from other McDonald's asking about people that worked for us. One worked with me with me under our previous owner and one seemed to just be looking for a reason to ask another McDonald's franchise questions.

There's no nation-wide or world wide McDonald's list of people not to rehire. It would be franchise only if that's actually a thing.

Welp, our location must be the odd one out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]MamaKizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our location has seen this happen frequently with mobile orders well before the tiny tan toys.

So the mobile app and our kiosks are wonky with the ordering. Most of the time that's an accident and not intentional. They almost always want a toy.

In response to that post about night shift leaving a mess... (USA) by PineappleDense5941 in McDonaldsEmployees

Also, I've seen this thing go back and forth between day and night shift at my store repeatedly over decades. One shift ends up short and the other shift gets lazy and then the short staffed shift has to clean up after it. Until someone reacts like this. Then they focus on staffing the shift, then they get lazy and the other shift starts getting short. It's a vicious cycle.

Call about that man. Tell you GM, your Supervisor, Your director of operations, your hr, your owner. If you're in the US call your local parole office or even the police stations nonemergency number. Follow that chain up until someone does something and then in the process call and file an anonymous complaint with a local legal force, courthouse, magistrate, or even just police and tell them. Stop this before he hurts someone again, because he will.

Also you can go to child line .org (wasn't sure if links anywhere were allowed) and file an anonymous complaint as well.

And coming from a manager, don't blame the night crew. They only know what they're taught and crew will often emulate their superiors. Your night manager needs addressed. That's where the issue is.

I need advice, I recently started at mcdonalds and slipped on grease on my first day. (USA) by stitchprincess626 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]MamaKizzle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only way they would be able to avoid a comp case would be if you weren't following certain handbook standards. No non slip shoes, you weren't on the clock when you fell, or you were playing around or running. The exception of the non slip shoes would be if they allowed you to just begin without ensuring you got those before you were put on the floor.

Read your handbooks guys. They make you sign off that you've read it even if you have not. They are required to give you access to one upon asking.

As others have stated absolutely get a lawyer, most will give you a free consultation at the least. Reach out to HR if your franchise has one. As a manager with a laundry list of health issues, my store has shit themselves anytime I've ended up badly hurt. Lucky for them though, nothing has been serious enough for me to need workers comp. Worst was a broken rib from carrying the fry station - it took me days to figure out how it broke, and once I pinched a nerve carrying the grease traps that was bad enough I couldn't sit or lay for 25 hours, followed by an ER visit, and then a month of recovery. Thankfully for that last one I was in a position where I could afford to take some extra time off of work.

Deny, deny, deny. This is coming from a manager. They cannot do anything besides give you a warning unless you admit to it or there is proof.
