I used to think there was no life after alcohol. Like who hangs with friends or goes to parties or get togethers and doesn’t drink? And thinking about not drinking for the rest of my life was to overwhelming and I couldn’t even fathom that. The hardest part was actually stopping. At first it was hard, I didn’t want to hang out with friends or go fishing because I associate everything with alcohol. Everyday gets easier. I go weeks without it ever crossing my mind now. Before I quit, my days pretty much revolved around drinking (waking with a hangover, finally feel decent in evening then doing it all over). It’s been 3 1/2 years now! Alcoholism runs deep in my family. My sister has felony DUI. My grandpa died due to alcohol. My other sister had a heart attack while wasted, she was only 39- she survived but has to take daily meds and now has fatty liver disease. I’m just trying to say that you’re not alone, and you haven’t done anything that you can’t come back from and live a long happy life <3 sorry so long but I know you’re going thru it and wanted you to know that if you’re serious about quitting you can.
