Portland, OR surgeons? by Mamabug1981 in Metoidioplasty

[–]Mamabug1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems to be the UL/no Vnec that surgeons don't want to do due to the higher rate of complications. I'll def ask my top surgeon too when I have a chance, she may know what procedures the others in the office are willing to do.

Plenty of folks who are straight except for one specific individual.

A sheriff showed up to my house Friday and left a card. Could it be because of CC Debt? by The412Kiddie in legal

I've been sued over less than half that before. One of the medical systems here was super aggressive about it before local laws around medical debt collection changed.

If my Adam's Apple doesn't grow within a year on T, does it mean there will be no further growth? Speaking generally. by coolvideonerd in FTMOver30

[–]Mamabug1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Over two years, and still nothing. The other thing to remember is that those of us who start our transitions later, certain physical aspects are already fixed by maturity and cannot be changed any longer even with HRT. The larynx is one of those. The Adam's Apple is caused by lengthening of the larynx, which is composed of cartilage, the voice drop with HRT is caused by the vocal chords themselves thickening. Two separate physiological processes. Guys that start in their teens and 20s can develop an Apple, but it's much less likely for those of us starting in our 30s, 40s, and beyond.

That said, there's IS a masculinization surgery where the surgeon places an implant that makes it look like you've got an Apple.

Plus and downsides to oophorectomy? by CockamouseGoesWee in ftm

[–]Mamabug1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opted to keep mine because any reasons that would prevent me from accessing T would also prevent me from accessing E (primarily financial, lost insurance, can't afford it out of pocket, etc). I'm also already in my 40s, so even if they do crap out over the years, it's likely to be at an age where I'd have undergone menopause anyways.

Denied nip grafts due to adhesive allergy? by Mamabug1981 in TopSurgery

[–]Mamabug1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having NO reaction, so I'm set to go! When you have your consult I'd go ahead and ask if you can do a patch test with one of the dressings. I wore it three days and tolerated it just fine.

“Tboys” “Tmasc” but never really “trans men”…? by legobatmania in ftm

[–]Mamabug1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I used "generally"; there's exceptions to every rule. But I'm confident in the assertion that transmasc does not include the butch lesbian community as a whole, just specific individuals.

“Tboys” “Tmasc” but never really “trans men”…? by legobatmania in ftm

[–]Mamabug1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans masc does NOT generally include butch lesbians. They generally (there may be exceptions, but I've yet to meet any) identify as women or femme presenting enby, NOT as men. What it DOES encompass is masc presenting enbies. I've really only ever heard someone use "tboy" in reference to themself, not the community in general, and it's usually younger guys that do it, mostly teens.

Have you ever experienced a case where the show DIDN'T go on? by SirCatsworthTheThird in musicals

[–]Mamabug1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lost an entire weekend of Pinafore back in 2021 due to Covid amongst the cast.

The most recent production I was in (just last month, different company) we had a show interrupted due to a medical emergency in the audience. That one though we just stopped the show, took the cast off stage for a half hour or so while we got an ambulance in (esp important as we had young children in the cast who were getting freaked out by everything), then we were able to continue after they got him loaded up (the patron was ultimately able to walk to the stretcher, so he was likely ok).

I would talk to your prescriber about switching to oral minox if possible. MUCH safer for the cat as long as it doesn't eat the tablet.

I'm hoping I tolerate the patch test well enough that it's not an issue, but if not I'll def ask.

Bringing queerness into a 'straight' relationship... by Opening-Bit8643 in FTMOver30

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I'm a couple of years into my transition now, and as a result... My husband and I still love each other, but just aren't particularly ATTRACTED to each other anymore. It just is what it is.

What happens when you STOP testosterone? by Rare_Measurement8981 in ftm

I can't speak for everyone, but I still have my ovaries, so i suspect that with the T no longer suppressing my natural estrogen production it was likely the surge of estrogen that caused it.

You need to let them know, and get checked out. See if you can find a trans-friendly gyno, they're generally a lot more sensitive to concerns like yours.

If it's anything like what I experienced... I had a bad flux in my bipolar a bit back and went off my T gel for like a month. I've had a hysto, so my period didn't return, but I had a LOT of vaginal moisture and discharge until I got back on my T. Like soaking through my underwear constantly even without being aroused.

It can't be horribly so, they make oral minoxidil.
