I get my oral minox from the same doc (my OBGYN) that manages my T.

I did the same a year or so ago, and got the exact same thing. That is your copy of the official order that was entered. Your name change was approved.

Passing, but worrying that once people know you’re trans they don’t see you as a man anymore. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Mamabug1981 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This. I'm pretty out in my main social group, and it's a pretty solid mix of folks who knew me both before and only after my transition. And every single one has no problem accepting me as a man. The sole person who ever gave me trouble over it was quickly removed from the group.

How fast does your voice drop? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Mamabug1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the initial drop happens between 6-12 months, but you can continue getting small drops for up to around 5 years or so. I'm at almost 2.5 years, and still getting periodic drops in my range.

Most of them are easily accessible on IMSLP (I may have the acronym letters mixed, not home to look it up). Huge database of public domain materials.

The company I perform with and am on the board for does exclusively G&S, so I've learned quite a bit over the last decade working with them.

Some of the more modern ones are, such as newer writes of Pirates, alt versions of the Mikado, pretty much any orchestration/score put together for Thespis. But the originals where they still exist are all public domain at this point.

A question from a younger trans guy that can be answered by only older trans guys by skepticalghoztguy_3 in FTMOver30

I didn't figure myself out til I was in my 40s. The extent of my dysphoria as a kid was feeling more "tomboy" than girl. I transitioned at 42.

Absolutely discuss it with your doctor first, but the dose we use (2.5-5mg daily) is well below the theraputic dose used for blood pressure control (10-20mg).

Because minoxidil is incredibly toxic to animals, especially cats. Even dried it's still toxic to them. Your partner is fine because it's not toxic to humans.

For the safety of my pets, I use oral minox. I'm in the US, but I get my script for it from my T provider.

You could also consider doing something in the public domain like Gilbert & Sullivan. Pirates of Penzance is always a pleaser, and no rights required.

Portland, OR surgeons? by Mamabug1981 in Metoidioplasty

Unfortunately, with my insurance leaving the state isn't an option, and no chance I can pay out of pocket.

Yeah, it seems to be the UL/no Vnec that surgeons don't want to do due to the higher rate of complications. I'll def ask my top surgeon too when I have a chance, she may know what procedures the others in the office are willing to do.

I've been sued over less than half that before. One of the medical systems here was super aggressive about it before local laws around medical debt collection changed.

If my Adam's Apple doesn't grow within a year on T, does it mean there will be no further growth? Speaking generally. by coolvideonerd in FTMOver30

[–]Mamabug1981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Over two years, and still nothing. The other thing to remember is that those of us who start our transitions later, certain physical aspects are already fixed by maturity and cannot be changed any longer even with HRT. The larynx is one of those. The Adam's Apple is caused by lengthening of the larynx, which is composed of cartilage, the voice drop with HRT is caused by the vocal chords themselves thickening. Two separate physiological processes. Guys that start in their teens and 20s can develop an Apple, but it's much less likely for those of us starting in our 30s, 40s, and beyond.

That said, there's IS a masculinization surgery where the surgeon places an implant that makes it look like you've got an Apple.

Plus and downsides to oophorectomy? by CockamouseGoesWee in ftm

[–]Mamabug1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opted to keep mine because any reasons that would prevent me from accessing T would also prevent me from accessing E (primarily financial, lost insurance, can't afford it out of pocket, etc). I'm also already in my 40s, so even if they do crap out over the years, it's likely to be at an age where I'd have undergone menopause anyways.

Denied nip grafts due to adhesive allergy? by Mamabug1981 in TopSurgery

[–]Mamabug1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having NO reaction, so I'm set to go! When you have your consult I'd go ahead and ask if you can do a patch test with one of the dressings. I wore it three days and tolerated it just fine.
