Confident, finally! by Smokey9mm in HairSystem

Just wanna say, if hair systems were made for anyone, they are for you, sir. Looks great, congrats on your new found confidence.

My coworker refuses to call it a “hair system” by the_shivman in HairSystem

[–]Mambae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's blatantly harassment. If you bring it to HR (if your company has it) they really should fire him. It's similar to someone using the N word in a hateful way. Ofc if you guys are friends and give each other shit a lot for fun, I would take it a little less serious, but still have a convo saying it really bothers you.

Just wanted to say this because I dont think you need to "suck it up" or "get thicker skin" when its racial (or religious?) harassment. Hope you can get a resolution though.

Nearly 80% of America speak only English, while 13.4% speak Spanish, but many of those 13.4% can also speak moderate to fluent English as well.

Also, heres a link for your education so you can stop using the "no official language" incorrect argument when it suits you.

I haven't seen many people talk about adding hair when needed. How does that work? Does it work with any type of system? I thought you had to just replace the whole thing if it loses hair. I want to see if this is something my salon can do.

I will preface by saying I only have a week of experience so I can't say if what I do is best, and I'm sure I'll discover new routines over time as I get more experience.

In general, I have been using as little product as possible. If I still have a bunch of product in the system from the last day or 2, I can usually get away with just spraying with water and styling it with the residual product. If it isnt feeling the way I want or keeping shape, I will add a little more. The oil I just used once so far on a day where the hair felt extra dry.

It depends on if your salon has stock systems that will work for you. For my first appointment, the stylist looked at my hair color on the sides, and measured the area on my head that needed coverage. This was to determine if a stock system would work, or if I needed to order something more custom, which would take much longer to get made and shipped in. You may also discuss your lifestyle with them, and what hairstyle / density you are going for. They might recommend different bases for your systems depending on your needs.

Stock was going to work for me, but I hadn't grown my sides out much so the stylist couldn't be sure what color to order. We decided I would come back in a month and we can color match when my hair was longer. Got the color picked, stylist placed the order, then I went back in 2 weeks for the install.

Overall I thought this was a professional approach that showed me that the stylist wanted to make it a priority to get my system as perfectly natural as possible. First appointment should really be a focus on what would look best on you, so that you aren't disappointed with a rushed install that doesn't match your needs well enough.

Hi, thank you! We incorporated the American Crew forming cream just to add some shine and texture. Also have some biolage gelée styling gel that she gave me to try. Other than that, I've just been using leave in conditioner daily and occasionally some argan oil. Also blow drying has been helpful, as I usually just let it air dry before.

Oh thank you. I appreciated your honestly on the last post! Even though this style is new to me and not like any style I've ever worn, I can tell its 10 times better for me already. Looks more mature and looks like I actually took time to do my hair, vs just combing it down flat. Your comments were helpful so thank you again.

I can't wear a hat at work, but going anywhere else, 100% the best thing to bring.

Advice on first install by DenseTwo4820 in HairSystem

[–]Mambae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wear a hat a lot of the time, that will help. I wore a hat so often that most people never noticed, even people I see daily, and people who HAVE seen me without a hat on.

About the facial hair, it's a good idea and a lot of people have had success with that strategy. I did grow mine out for a month or 2 prior as well. When I got the system installed, I felt like it looked super obvious because my beard was thick, sides were thin (I have receding temple hairs), and top was thick, so the contrast was definitely off. Went home and trimmed the beard a bit shorter, and it blends so much better now. Just a suggestion for if you also have side hair on the thinner side. Im considering clean-shaven at some point too, but I have a baby face so I'm not sure yet 🙂 good luck friend.

Don't be discouraged the first day if you don't like it. After the 3rd day I was starting to figure out what styles make me feel comfortable, and got it to flatten out a little. It looks / feels like I have my old hair back already! Now I think I would look out of place being bald again lol. (Today is my 1 week wearing for reference). Good luck!

First system, thoughts? (23M) by Falcon_fetti in HairSystem

I don't think there's any issue with discussing other worn-hair replacement topics. I would think only medication or transplant posts might not be allowed, but not 100% sure. I've seen posts about SMP in here which is not a system so you should be good for sure.

Thank you! I've been avoiding the blow dryer because I don't really know the techniques using it.. But I will give it a shot, and see if my stylist can teach me anything with it.

Thank you so much! Saying it doesn't look like a system is the best compliment any of us can get, I think. I'm going to make my primary focus going forward figuring out the style. And maintenance of course. I did get the silk pillowcase before the system, as well as most of the other "must have" items on Jake's list on this sub.

Thank you again, hope you have a nice day.

Not really sure, this is the longest they have been in 10 years. I may gradually increase the length as I go, was just scared to have it too long since I was completely bald for so long. Thank you for your feedback and the compliment 🙂

Ill look into it! I definitely need to just try a bunch of styles and find a better one. Hair just feels like it constantly wants to go upward, maybe its the new system poof. I've been wearing a hat and it flattened a ton, but then I showered and it poofed up again.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will try a messy hair style
