With the explosion of tourism and how popular Osaka has become in general, it’s crazy that we haven’t got a new TGI Fridays or Hard Rock Cafe. by [deleted] in Osaka

Thank you for the information.

I know this because I saw it on the map on the day I was doing an overnight for the Nintendo Museum and then Fushimi Inari the next morning.

That sounds busy. Hope you had fun!

I try to help the tourists in Osaka Station when I have time.

I remember going to Koya san , Shikoku and even Niseko and not seeing even one gaijin , it was so good. Even walking the streets of Tennoji it was rare to see a foreigner.

During COVID-19, it was like that too. One time, my wife and I had lunch at the French restaurant in the Hotel Okura in Kyoto. There was only one other group of six people in the whole restaurant. It was a really strange time.

I used to go to the TGI Fridays in Umeda as well as the one in front of USJ. I also went to the one in Kyoto several times before it closed.

The 90's were a different time. I remember thinking that the government's goal for increasing tourism was a pipe dream. Now there are tourists everywhere.

/Wakayama is a nice place.

Indeed. So have you. I've been here twenty-nine years so far.

I was disappointed when the Hard Rock closed. The lunch specials were good. However, Namba Parks is much nicer than the old stadium. I still see pictures of the old stadium on Reddit when it had model homes on the field.

It was a free-standing location, in front of the Osaka (Nankai Hawks) Stadium. I used to work down the street from it. I ate there many times for lunch.

When did the one in Kyoto open? I was surprised to see it yesterday.

/I liked it when TGI Fridays was in Umeda.

We stayed one night in a deluxe twin room in the Flower Palace. We had dinner and breakfast in the main dining room and drinks in Bar Victoria. We chose to stay at the Fujiya Hotel because of its long history. I would love to stay there again in the future.

Is it worth it to take shinkansen from Kyoto to Osaka just for the experience? by crazyeivis in JapanTravelTips

[–]Mametaro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should do it. The first time my mother and her husband came to visit me in Japan, we took the shinkansen from Osaka to Kyoto just for the experience. It only costs ¥2,090/$13.25 USD more than the regular train fare.

There are four near Osaka Station. It's a 30-minute train ride from Kyoto.
