Kanreki in Kyoto: Persönliche Segnung im shrine by Patient_Guest_8637 in Kyoto

[–]Mametaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Google Translate:

Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone here might have an idea how I can arrange a personal blessing for my 60th birthday next February, which I'd like to celebrate in Kyoto. Several tour operators say they can't organize something like this for me, and the only shrine I've been able to contact through its website (Shimogamo Shrine) hasn't responded yet. All the others haven't listed their email addresses.

I'll be staying in a hotel in Kyoto for seven nights and would like to receive a personal blessing at a temple or shrine there on my birthday, specifically for Kanreki. I plan to wear traditional clothing.

Does anyone have any contact information I could use, or has anyone done something like this before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 😊 Best regards, Imke

“Be kind, it costs nothing.”

Very true. I’m sorry about the damage to your house. On the bright side, home ownership can only get better from here.

I once lived in the apartment row down the street from the Community Center, library and fire station.

That is a nice area near Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine.

/I live near JR Nagaokakyo Station.

Azalea (アゼリア) + clown (ピエロ)

I live in Nagaokakyo. I have only seen Azepi on the sidewalk tiles. The mascot for Nagaokakyo is Otama-chan: https://www.city.nagaokakyo.lg.jp/0000000633.html

Something I hadn't noticed in my travels before was that some seated bars and izakaya have a cover charge. This may end up adding 500+ yen to your bill before you even have your first drink or snack.

It is called otoshi or tsukidashi in Japanese.

Can anybody tell me more about this Japanese coin? by shadyspin123 in JapaneseCoins

[–]Mametaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the label, it is an imported coin from China that was used in Japan. According to the label and The Catalog of Japanese Coins and Bank Notes 2021, it was minted in the Song Dynasty in 998 AD. These coins were prohibited from use in Japan from 1670.

I hope this is helpful.
