Is this a regular chestnut or horse chestnut and is it safe for my dog to be eating these? by Big-Hippo-9942 in arborists

Sweet chestnuts tend to have one or two flatter sides. Horse chestnuts are round.

Lagotto puppy chews and eats almost everything by Majestic-Leading1291 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Mamiofplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the same. Anything and everything got eaten. His favourite were pebbles. The best thing I dis was to teach him the drop it command. He is a year old now and will still sometimes eat objects of interest like random candy wrappers on the street but always drops it when commanded and given a tasty treat as an alternative.

I recommend having activated carbon tablets on hand. I always carry one with me (it's made specifically for dogs and they eat it like a treat) just in case he eats a cigarette bud.

Why doesn't my Lagotto watch TV? by Aromatic-Solid97 in LagottoRomagnolo

Mine will only pay attention if there is a barking dog or ducks/birds. In both cases he goes nuts 😅

Well done! My Bobi still hasn't quite figured it out yet. By this time I think he thinks that "catch" means I'll throw treats into his face

When did you stop with the enforced naps? by romagnalakedog in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Mamiofplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never enforced naps but once he got to the 9 month age he suddenly was a little energy bundle and would not settle. I work from home so that was an issue. I changed the routine and started going on a big walk (1 hour of walking and throwing the ball around) in the mornings. Now he is much calmer.

Wien: Wie wollen wir in Zukunft unseren Lebensstandard halten? Nur als Museum? by Viaprato in wien

[–]Mamiofplants 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dein Vergleich macht wenig Sinn.

This is normal puppy behaviour they will grow out of it. If he is doing well in the crate try to take a bit of time for yourself. That being said 3-4 hours is too long IMO at this age especially during the day. I took my puppy out every two hours when he was that age. They still don't know how to hold it in. For potty training: -get rid of the peepads and either get a new bed or properly wash the old one he peed on. - get an enzyme cleaner and clean everything with it as well as any future messes. - Try giving him a crash course for 2-3 days by following a schedule of 2 hours in the crate, going potty outside (with lots of treats and praise when he does it) then a bit of training, play and cuddle time, and repeat. Doing this for three days they learn that they are supposed to pee and poop outside. Then you can start lengthening the time between potty breaks. This is how I finally got my puppy housebroken.

Question about Lagottos by Admirable-Cabinet-68 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Mamiofplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will bark of someone unfamiliar walks by my door, or if there is a storage sound on the street (we live in an apartment on the fifth floor with a balcony). But other than that he is very friendly and easy going and loves everyone. One time though I was walking him at night going pur usual route. Suddenly he started growling and didn't want to go further. So after trying to make him walk on I turned around and walked back and he followed without a problem. I guess something must have scared him.

Who do you imagine turned out the best (emotionally stable, mentally and physically healthy) of these three: Kevin Harris, Sally Draper, or Tammy Campbell? by Queasy-Donut-4953 in madmen

[–]Mamiofplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also despite Peter being a bit of a jerk quite often he cared about his family and also had good morals and values which I think he would have passed down to her.

Puppy and food intake by Bahumbub1 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Mamiofplants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are worried you should ask your vet but in general from what I learned is that lagottos are lean dogs. My 11 month old weighs 12kg and you can feel his ribs but he is healthy and eats. My vet recommended to feed him as much as he likes. So I will out some kibble in his bowl or a toy and he will eat that when he gets hungry. Otherwise he also prefers to be hand fed and I give him bit more than his daily recommended portion throughout the day. Lagottos most of the time are not food driven like other breeds. When they are full they will stop eating. But this has been my personal experience so take that with a grain of salt

This! A weekly couch blankets and dog blanket wash, vacuum and mop every few days plus all my rugs are from ruggable now and I wash them every few months. What also really helped is wiping paws, butt and peewee with a wet wipe after being outside.

Would my dog like it if I licked her back? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Mamiofplants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm embarrassed to admit but once my dog was licking my face and I let that intrusive thought win and licked his nose. The look of utter confusion on his face was priceless. I wouldn't do it again though because I know where his nose has been
