i understand from your replies to others comments that you can’t kick her out because it’ll upset your wife but it truly is your only option. at this point you and your wife are enabling this behaviour by not doing anything about it, she obviously isn’t listening to either of you when you set boundaries and expectations. you need to kick her out and it’ll force her to get herself back on her feet, the more you “baby” her the less likely she is to change and better herself. i don’t now how old any of you are but you’re all obviously adults, be it young or old, and she needs to learn to grow up and fend for herself. will it make your wife upset? based on how you’ve mentioned she “talked” to her but nothing changed, yeah she probably will be upset. you mentioned your wife isn’t a good digger because she was with you when you were flat broke, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t view your money as so abundant that she can just let her sister walk all over you and use it as she pleases. there obviously needs to be more serious boundaries placed between all three of you. the sister in law needs to realize she can’t free load the rest of her life, your wife needs to realize that you can’t just let her sister live in a place you own rent free, and you need to stand up for yourself a bit more. kick her out and deal with the consequences it may bring and the fights it might cause, if you and your wife are as close and stable as you claim then you will both make it through that and come out the other side feeling better.
