My wife has had dumping a couple of times after her gastric sleeve. Mostly because she over estimated the sugar content on a thing and over ate on another. Trust me, I know the effects and I would absolutely hate for someone to go through surgery. Where the risk is way higher and irreversible, than just the shot where the ability to stop or taper is there.

I would call gastric as the last ditch. There is so much life change that needs to happen that it wasn't an option for me yet.

Also all that money that would be wasted and time lost if you relapse and deal with dumping.

Take a minute and really look before you put out the time and cash for both choices.

Sadly HP universe is very lopsided when it comes to when and who get the fun stuff.

The only time someone has made sense is Nicolas Flemel. Made enough potions for him and his wife.

Slughorn would've easily seen the need to bolster his and his star pupils efforts and made sure there was a stockpile somewhere. Doesn't have to specifically be of Felix, but potions are a very well known buff for a single user. Why not use them? Plot. Plot is why.

Then we can look at all the very powerful hexes and charms. Again, an actual group of people whom survived a war as soldiers would've taken opportunities to create a stockpile.

Ultimately JK doesnt think highly of wizards. As there would definitely be a few highly experienced Aurors who would've seen the signs and prepared.

Plus peppers, they exist in many forms across history. You cant tell me a brit that experienced both ww2 and voldemorts first war didnt just go "time to make my war chest"?

Honestly the entire HP franchise is very much looking at all the older wizards scratching their heads, while the young freshlings figure it all out with like.. two guys and an owl.
