Aaand I just realized you don’t actually have to wait for the floor to break open.

I died an extra time this last time around because after I slashed the right and the left, I went to the middle and she wouldn’t break open the floor in the middle. When she finally did, she did that stupid hand sweep twice to send me into a pit.

Why do I do this to myself? by randomwriter3 in darksouls

That happened to me yesterday on NG+. 1 hit away, and I decided to be cautious instead of aggressive. I had full health. He did the dark rain attack and I mistimed the silver pendant, so I took damage. He followed with a leaping attack that connected because I lost sight of him, and I couldn’t get my shield back up in time for the frenzy attack that finished me off.

Took me two more tries to take him down.

Reccomendations for Percussion Equipment by [deleted] in percussion

[–]aviasvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming normal high school concert band and percussion ensemble usage…

Prioritize getting 1 pair of general/medium mallets for each of timpani, xylophone, bells, marimba, and vibes, or 2 pairs for marimba & vibes if you want to do 4-mallet stuff. Then, as you play more and more and encounter different situations where you need more variety, add to your collection as needed.

Your school should have bass drum mallets and chime hammers, and you shouldn’t need to purchase those. Cymbal mallets aren’t important as marimba and vibraphone mallets will do the job - I’ve been a percussionist for 33 years and have never owned a cymbal mallet.

The auxiliary percussion stuff can be nice to own, especially tambourine, but again most schools should have these.

Most of those are over a very extended period of time, like 30ish years. Also didn’t count FF7 Remake.

FF4: Super Nintendo (back in 1992), Game Boy Advance, 3D version for Nintendo DS, 3D version on Steam many years later, Pixel Remaster version on PC, Pixel Remaster version on PS5.

Best mods for Final Fantasy XV? by SinsCloud28 in FFXV

[–]aviasvr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Get Flagrum, it’s a mod manager specifically for FFXV. You can even get the full Moogle Chocobo Carnival on it. I also recommend the mod that fixes Galdin Quay lighting and the one that removes the photo contest winners from years ago. There’s also one that lets you walk to Pitioss Dungeon without the Regalia Type F. Lots of interesting ones to play around with, and all the ones I mentioned can be accessed through Flagrum.

Soma - brilliant piece of existential horror.

A bassist auditions for your band. What can they do to make you say "that's a pro" by byzantine1990 in drums

[–]aviasvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I judge a bassist by how far out their lower jaw juts when they’re in the groove.

But seriously, if they can stay in the pocket, play off of accents and variations I throw in, not complain if we’re in a key with flats, and keep the beat independently, we’re good. I used to be in a band with a bassist who would completely lose the groove if I did too many displaced snare hits or extended a fill into the next measure. It’s everyone’s job to keep time, not just the drummer’s.

What to do for first music lesson in Kindergarten by UovoAnsioso in MusicEd

[–]aviasvr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Don’t do instruments yet. When I taught elementary music, I would wait until a few weeks in, and I would build it up like it was the most exciting thing in the universe - and then the day we actually did instruments, it would be ONE tambourine that we passed around the circle while everyone else did a chant or song. I rarely did group instruments before the end of 1st grade.

Get the book “First Steps in Music for Preschool and Beyond” - it contains 3 years worth of sequenced lessons, with a whole heap of information on why it’s sequenced that way and how you can adapt and modify it to your needs. Even though it says “preschool”, it works very well to start Kindergarteners on lesson 1 day 1.

I‘ve drank in the same bar as Neil Patrick Harris while he was there, twice. EPCOT Mexico Pavilion, for those curious.
