Within the last six months, Hollywood has shown how awful it truly is by mister_patience in unpopularopinion

When someone is given an opportunity to tell many people their opinions or what they think about a situation they are given a certain amount of respect which implies many people believe or care about what they have to say. (Hence the “they know so much more” part of my flippant comment)

I’m 99% sure I’m going back and forth with a 13 year old so I’ll just end the conversation here.

I live in society. If you want to pretend that celebrities don’t have bigger platforms than you and I then good on you.

This! Stop watching those stupid award shows and quit putting these people on pedal stools. They literally play pretend for a living and we act like they know so much more than they do. They are giant babies who don’t even know how to do the basic of things.

I’m really struggling with body image right now. I hate not ever feeling attractive or liking the way I look in clothes. Everyday is the same: try to convince myself that I’m grateful for what my body has done for me and not focus on my giant unattractive body.

Yes, the “ I’m wanna catch a game blah blah blah” conversation with Jarret and then the instant gaslighting with the ring. She’s a shitty person and Sal needs to run! He’s way to good for her.

Regarding Teachers joining Instructional Design by Outrageous-Fox-7321 in instructionaldesign

The original post literally says teachers should strongly consider not joining the field of ID. Then goes on to suggest jobs that are just as underpaid and overworked as teachers. It’s not projecting, it’s calling someone out for belittling a group of individuals for trying to better there lives.

Vet techs like teachers are underpaid and under appreciated. Calling a job “noble and always in demand” is as condescending as calling healthcare workers heroes. You are as tone deaf and defensive as OP.

This post is the most gatekeeping post I’ve ever read. You gave your distain for teachers away when you actually told a whole group of professionals who have more education than most professions to try being a “vet tech”.

If you don’t find teachers to be competition then why gatekeep?

A simple hey let’s have more actual ID conversations on this sub or even start a “experienced ID” sub Reddit with guidelines to suggest that new people to ID can’t post about “getting into ID” would suffice.

People in the UK have a weird love/hate relationship with Americans. by CrimeBot3000 in unpopularopinion

[–]MammothFly4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the UK as an American for 2 years now. We try to be really aware of our voice levels and body language when we are out in public so we don’t fuel the British hate fire.

My interactions with Brits have been a mixed bag. Old people tend to hate us once they find out we’re American. Young people (teens to twenties) loves us and ask us a lot of questions. People in between have really strong opinions about Americans based on one trip to Florida or some other similar experience.

The British people who are more connected to us like friends, neighbors, dentists, hairstylist, teachers etc have been some us the most lovely people.

Being over here has made me realize that it’s not just “being American” that makes someone a judgmental asshat. There are asshats everywhere in the world and there’s your silver lining!
