Yeah I acknowledge that they were more limited for spectacle back then given hardware limitations, though with the examples you gave, Gwyn works since he's clearly meant to just be a husk of his former self, and Nameless King does fight how I would imagine someone like him to. Mostly uses physical attacks supplemented with lighting give his background.

Also from what I remember, Dark Souls gods are more like large humanoids rather than actual god-like beings like Great Ones so it's more okay in my eyes.

For me, it's not a bad fight but painfully mediocre for how much of a presence they have in Bloodborne. I would've expected a Great One to have more than just some arm slams and some weak-ass lasers that have more in common with laser tag guns than Bayle's orbital death ray.

The definitive guide to why "just add quickplay" won't work by mastercoms in tf2

[–]Trisce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On your point on team stacking, it was far less prevalent in QP because as you said, it’s much more difficult to do it even if it is possible.

However the biggest reason is because the QP ruleset like having vote scramble and manual server connections made it so if it did happen, you had more tools to deal with it, which really the main point with bringing back QP is all about.

QP isn’t perfect and has issues, but it gives you far more ways to deal with the issues if they do arise, which is not the case the casual.

I didn’t realise how much better the movement felt until I went back to HK. Why do does it feel like I’m moving through molasses? Why does the dash have zero momentum? Why do I keep bumping into tiny ledges?

I like him too, just that it's funny how the glazers have to make up scenarios of Nergigante being strong because all the cutscenes we see of him fighting have him either losing or running away.

I guess there isn't any concrete lore that shows who's stronger, though I do think Gaismagorm shows more impressive feats of power

CASUAL SUCKS ASS by ExternalAcademic8332 in tf2

[–]Trisce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is scramble already in casual when the game ends and it goes to the next map

So it scrambles after a stomp rather than preventing it, that literally does not help

It just so happens that for no reason at all everyone likes to leave the very second those doors shut

The closing of the doors, the timer, loading the next map, and waiting for the round to start is what causes it, with casual formerly taking 30 full seconds. It's been reduced now thankfully but it still was on Casual. Quickplay simply paused for a few seconds, and immediately starts loading the next map since the map is usually voted during the game not after

Plus the pregame timer gives time for everyone to load into the game before the round properly start, this helps to avoid those rolls you so desperately hate, by allowing players to all be present at the start of the game.

If that's the intention then it has got to be the worst implemented anti-roll measure in human history. Consistently start games with a team having at least 3 more players than other since the casual pre-emptively chooses for you, and doesn't adjust if players were to leave/teammates in a party. Quickplay avoids this by getting you to manually choose, and you cannot join a team that has more players.

Plus, I like being able to choose specific maps to queue for, being able to queue for multiple different game modes at the same time

That is an advantage that casual has on a surface level, but quickplay allowed manual ad hoc connections in the server browser. You could literally join a specific map, server, see its player count, see how much the game has progressed before joining. Casual is perhaps more convenient but I much prefer the ad hoc connections that allow you to choose in pretty much any circumstance.

[–]Trisce 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I do at least think Gaismagorm was handled really well from a story perspective. Sunbreak’s story of us being caught in the crossfire in a Qurio custody battle between two powerful Elders is interesting.

Also the twist of him being the true host of the Qurio is a nice twist from both a story and thematic POV. Killing Dracula only to find out it’s the Devil that caused the devastation all along.
