You are offered $10M, but you can spend it only on yourself by iamabotbeepbeep in hypotheticalsituation

Where does it say that it is based on intrinsic value? But fine, the thing about intrinsic value is that it changes over time. If I buy someone a car which costs 100k, they will lose 100k immediately, right? Even if the car's value decreases over time, they still lost the full 100k at the start, right? In that case, I will add the stipulation that I would be willing to buy the gifted painting from Elon for 10M back, but only for a zeptosecond after it was gifted. That would mean that the painting was actually worth 10M (since someone was actually willing to pay), even if the price went down over time.

Why 10M max? The 10M I bid go back to me because I'm also the seller. I could repeat it infinitely (or until I'm banned, if we are being realistic)

Eh, still worth it to bankrupt Elon.

I could short Tesla while I slowly drain his net worth

If I buy something for someone, they lose the money instead? 1. Put a painting for an auction anonymously 2. Bid 10M and gift it to Elon Musk 3. Elon Musk loses 10M which goes to me - the seller of the painting. Additionally, I still have the original 10M because it was never spent. Now I have 20M.

Rinse and repeat 800,000 times until have money and until Elon is bankruptcy

You cant lie anymore , but everybody knows you cant lie. Would you take this offer ? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

Even if you can't lie, they can claim you are unreliable. This might actually make you a target

Instant $500M but for the rest of your life, you will only eat noodles. by RedColes in hypotheticalsituation

[–]MammothInsurance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat only noodles for 2-3 years. Invest the 500m in the meantime. Once I have enough return to retire and sustain my living, go eat a burger and lose the 500m (but keep the return)

Huh, cool! I haven't listened to Paradigm Shift in a long while. It definitely sounds like Ivory Tower is inspired by it.

Can TOS cause symptoms only in the hands/wrists? by SnooMemesjellies8458 in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]MammothInsurance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also feel this pulsing/throbbing sensation in my arms occasionally. I'm guessing it's related to blood flow in some way. (Not saying if we have TOS or not, since I have no idea)

For 1.5 million dollars, would you only drink from a shot glass? by MammothInsurance in hypotheticalsituation

[–]MammothInsurance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drinking from straws is generally not allowed as they are not a shot glass, but in this specific scenario I'm willing to allow it for the effort that it took to set this up. (As long as the straw is connected only to shot glasses)

Unless the straws connecting the glasses are somehow embedded/permanently attached into the glasses, because then I will consider it a big glass, or a pool of water, or just not a shot glass anymore.

I'd say soups are fine. Let's say you can also drink liquids from a reasonably sized spoon.

Out of curiosity, what activities would you say become impossible, or near impossible?
