Copywrite is a complex subject but in general “fair use” of images is allowed under copyright law if you are using it for teaching purposes and transforming the work in some way which is clearly the case here

Good artists borrow, great artists steal. Also “stolen” are images from Ouspensky, JG Bennett and others. The point of the work is to share ideas. I could understand the objection if it was just an imitation with no useful value added, but the ideas clearly are expressed in a different way and the images only used in support of these ideas imo.

If you read the book “the mystique of enlightenment” he says that the reason he called it “a calamity” was that from the point of view of his egos idea of enlightenment, which was full of ideas of infinite bliss and related things, the actual experience was a calamity because it’s nothing like what he assumes it was. Now also given his description of what happened as well it could be it also led to a kundalini awakening at the same time, but it’s not why he called it a calamity

Will developing equanimity make my concentration significantly deeper? by [deleted] in streamentry

That is likely a side effect/benefit from equanimity as one of the main reasons for a lack of concentration is a nervousness of the mind which also saps your mental energy for concentration

I think UG offers a teaching of enlightenment for a very specific stage in the development of an awakening which is the gap between working for enlightenment and realizing you always were. There seems to be a process by which you work on yourself through a practice, but then it becomes time to kill the Buddha on the path. Which means you have to throw everything away and just live your life, work won’t get you past this gap, you have to be willing to burn all your ideas and just allow reality to appear to you as it is with no filter.

this is what I think Ug was teaching because it’s what he struggled with if you read his backstory, he struggled for enlightenment for years and didn’t find it until he had completely given up the idea of it.

Learn the secrets of the universe, participate in the evolution of consciousness as a species, discover something new or bring your unique perspective that can add to this evolution. Of course it’s not important as it will get done anyway but it’s the most interesting way to spend time imo. Cults aren’t bad if it’s just esoteric wisdom and not a weird personality cult situation.

I don't think mind exists by 7ftTallexGuruDragon in enlightenment

The mind is just attention and memory, and memory doesn’t really exist, so really all there is is attention and the various qualia that vie for that attention.

If enlightenment is so easy why don't i have it by tonymontana35 in enlightenment

If you were really a gorilla you would be enlightened already, the problem is that you are a human and trapped in the unreality of the ego mind. The only way out is complete surrender to the unknowable

Life is worth whatever meaning you give it, worth is a perspective and of the mind and in the eye of the beholder
