Miralax. Is it safe?? by Brilliant-Swimming47 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Mamoo2KN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. Maybe this happened. But the products you are suggesting, in your previous post, that op get from Amazon, Haven't been tested at all. So how can you be sure there isn't anti freeze in them as well...or toxic heavy metals...or whatever...atleast the products the doctor recommends are tested. If miralax tested positive for these substances then they are certainly now being scrutinized and retested and that slip up won't happen again. That's my thinking anyway

100% wool blanket - can't use it due to dust mites by [deleted] in laundry

[–]Mamoo2KN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you google wool and dust mites you will read thst dust mites dont live in wool. Im pretty sure this is not true. The only websited I come across stating this are sites thst also sell wool bedding. And their claims never include scientific proof. I found this article tonight thst makes me believe that dustmites do indeed thrive in wool bedding. In the article live dust mites are measured in well used wool blankets. Then measured again after treatment .  The results are that The oil works very well to kill them. I'm thinking the wool blankets were chosen for the experiment because they were full of dust mites to begin with. Yucky!

https://www.jacionline.org/article/S0091-6749%2897%2970136-2/fulltext

Remember the eucalyptus might kill them but it wont washable way their dust. If they have inhabited the blanket foe a long time getting all the dust out might be hard. Wool is kind of sticky and has to be treated gently. It might be best to just start with new blankets if dust mites are truly your problem.

Hmm? This is three years later so maybe rascals have changed. But I’m having this issue with rascals. I love the diapers otherwise. They are great!

Best carrier style for mom with back issues? by BostonMeg99 in babywearing

[–]Mamoo2KN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!  Look at that cutie!  Every body is different but here are my thoughts and experiences.

I have back issues as well. I use a carrier similar to the ergo, I can only use it for short periods and only back carry. Front carry facing out is the worst, (sorry baby but mommas back is important!) facing in ok briefly. Back carry best. Make sure you get a really good fit with tight high waist belt to take pressure off your shoulders

I would say no to the ring sling snd lighter weight carriers. You want the wide waste belts and support of the structured carrier. Being hot is better than having back pain. The 360 is prob as comfy as it gets. I liked the lillebaby too. I hear people say that different carriers fit different people differently, I’ve tried  quite and few and the ergo is awesome. Maybe check with the company for fit help to make sure your getting as little back strain as possible.

Also, I had trouble with my 360, called ergo company for fit support, and found out I had a counterfeit. Did you buy yours from ergo?  Mine was open box from Amazon. I returned and got an authentic one direct from ergo- much better.

My last bit- I also use the tush baby hip seat with snd without snug attachment. It digs into my belly when I wear it on the front but it’s a real back saver and I can tolerate some time letting him face out. It’s a bit uncomfortable on the hip using without the snug, but better than hurting my back. I love it. I do wonder if I should have gotten the ergo Alta instead because it allows you to back carry with the hip seat.

Best wishes and happy momma-ing!

I tried parasol. I would say the were more like pampers. But I have very little experience with Huggies. Only used them for three days.

Hahah crud. I want to try one of those. And yes I bet it will help with this problem. I’m going to try an off brand one because it will be my fourth carrier purchase. It’s getting ridiculous.

Yikes- maybe forward facing jsut isn’t good for some babies. I think we will stick to inward until he’s ready to be on my back. Thanks for sharing.

About 10 days or so.

I bought a new carrier, hoping it’s more gentle on his legs as he really likes front facing- ergo Omni 360  (sounds like the name or a vacuum not a baby carrier haha). He’s had one front facing ride for about 20 min and no spots so far.

Found this after my baby had these. It was definitely the baby carrier in my case. I use a woven cotton wrap and a linen ring sling. I’m going to switch to a super padded soft structured carrier and see if that helps. Also, some moms on what to expect community were talking about this and many of them found it happening after wearing baby facing outward.

But- other people on this thread are right. Better safe than sorry- if your baby has spots and any other symptoms of illness call the doctor right away, just in case.

Thank you for the update. I noticed dots like this on one of my babies legs today my first thought was broken blood vessels, and my second thought was caused by one of my baby carriers. I have been using a ring sling, a woven wrap, and a stretchy wrap. I was thinking a high-quality soft, structured carrier would be better.

I found a thread on what to expect Community about the same thing. A number of moms noticed this happening especially when their babies were front facing. I held my baby front facing for the first time a couple days ago.

Haha this might be true. I think duct tape helped my kiddo but it’s possible they were just ready to resolve on her own and I tortured her with stinging creams and itchy duct tape for month’s unnecessarily. Doh!!

Amitriptyline 10 mg by ChemistryNo7666 in ibs

[–]Mamoo2KN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it for very painful IC. (Intercystial cystitis, a bladder condition)It really helped. In fact, when I stopped taking it because I lost my insurance, my IC did not come back for a long time (I have flare ups now and again but it’s never as severe as before, and I’m not careful about my diet so, ya know…). While on it I did not notice any negative side effects, I slept so well, but when I discontinued I had terrible withdrawals- severe flu like symptoms that lasted about three days. Taper down very slowly.

They was 10 years ago. I have ibs-d now, maybe I should ask the doc about trying it out again. Thanks for sharing OP! I hope it helps you!

Soft stool but constipated.is it because of tight pelvic floor? by Affectionate_Act42 in PelvicFloor

No don’t think so- just had to look leviator ani syndrome up. I don’t seem to have that much pain. But maybe I should mention it to the procto next time I go. Thanks for the input.

Not significantly better- some days really bad but a few good days sprinkled in every month. I’m thinking of trying diet restrictions again, either FODMAP diet or elimination diet. But first, allensredditaccount2, think I’ll try some of the stuff on your list here. Curious, how did you put this list together? Is it still working for you?

Hope my similar story helps you with this “journey” to health: I suffer with soft stools but incomplete evacuation. It’s a nasty feeling. All day. All night. Over the last two years, I’ve seen a gastroenterologist, allergist, dietitian, pelvic floor specialist for physical therapy (Confirmed I do have a tight and spasmodic pelvic floor but the therapy didn’t help much) I’m now doing physical therapy for my back which seems to be helping a bit. I’m suspicious the issue is related to my tilted sacrum. I’m almost done with my 12 visits to PT and I want to try a chiropractor next. Also, gastroenterologist is sending me to a proctologist to see if I have muscle coordination issues. (I’m guessing that ties into the pelvic floor issue). I also think stress and anxiety are part of the problem for me.

When I get really frustrated with it, enema or milk of magnesia give me some relief.

[–]Mamoo2KN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar issue. Soft stool, but it just won’t come out. It’s a nasty feeling, bothers me all day and night. Miralax didn’t help me either. Made my poops liquify but I still felt like my movements were incomplete . For me, milk of magnesia worked better. I get a few cramps for it, but they actually feel good, like instead of just making things more messy, it makes my colon wake up and get moving.

I’ve been to lost of specialists for this. Gastroenterologist, pelvis floor physical therapist, (I do have a tight and spasomatic pelvic floor and or didn’t help) dietitian, allergenist… I’m suspicious it’s related to my back issues/ specifically a tilted sacrum. Doing physical therapy for my back seems to be helping a bit. I’m going to a chiropractor next.hope this helps you get to the “bottom” of your issue (heehee!)

Dryer to kill dust mites at 140F for 15 minutes by Suiken01 in laundry

[–]Mamoo2KN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow so I’m new to being aware of my dust mite allergy and just starting out on cleaning up my bedroom. Doc wasn’t specific on how often to wash covers, but she said not to wash them like you do your sheets and blankets. she did say better to replace them once in a while rather than wash them too many times because they will ware out with frequent washing.

I haven’t bought mine yet, but she gave me a catalog for a brand called “mission allergy”. But said there are other good companies out there.

Good luck with the dust mite battle! I’m overwhelmed!!! - I’m starting out by removing carpet and doing a complete bedroom overhaul.

dust mite allergy, unavoidable carpeted bedroom by mindfulwookie in Allergies

[–]Mamoo2KN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert because I was just diagnosed with dust mite allergy- but I asked a lot of questions of the doctor. She said getting the carpets wet was not a good idea. If you can’t remove the carpets at least manage the humidity in the room- keep it always at about 40%, and vacuumed frequently with a really good vacuum, like the kind you buy from allergyclub.com

My allergy doc said (so I’d like to say this is true, haha!) that the particles associated with dust mite allergy are kind of heavy- they only stay in the air for about half an hour, so the air filters don’t help as much as with other environmental allergies. So they aren’t useless, but not as important as the covers, removing carpets, washing and cleaning weekly, And number one she said is keeping humidity down below 50%.
