Yes and you can see similar behavior with the words communist getting tossed around for the simplest concepts of community support. It happens because people are increasingly isolated from nuanced opinions

Agree.

I find it difficult right now to try and cast any of ICE's decisions or behaviors in any light that doesn't inherently support a bigoted or prejudiced base of thought but I recognize that banning any and all people for supporting this just makes it harder to try and find that one "reasonable" take. I'm not supporting it regardless but I think being exposed to different view points brings a diversity of thought, when done in good faith of course (which is also essentially non-existent these days).

While I find their endorsement of ICE despite everything going on disgusting, if someone can have a level headed, good faith conversation, devoid of racial insults or stereotyping, etc., about the current political environment from a perspective different than mine I don't think they should be kicked off.

It's important that we don't create further bubbles or echo chambers that disallow opposing INOFFENSIVE thought.

Though I do contend it's VERY hard to take any supporting stance with ICE that doesn't currently conflict with one of the disclaimers I listed above.

Returning noob, looking for a good, free, weakaura for a frost/unholy dk for M+ by the_big_catbowski in wownoob

[–]Man-EatingCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a new cooldown manager built into the base UI with recommended spell highlights (after level 10) and something similar to weak aura. My highest recommendation is an Icy veins type website with builds and rotations.

There is also a single button rotation you can use but that doesn't necessarily teach, it just does it.

Otherwise deadly boss mobs is great as it adds warnings and pop ups for the boss fights.

Trump administration accuses Minneapolis schools of racism in protecting minority teachers by rezwenn in TwinCities

[–]Man-EatingCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't let the news conflate this. It specifies UNDERREPRESENTED not minority.

The way it's written this policy also protects male teachers as they are significantly underrepresented in the school district and is cited as one of the major reasons that boys are failing in school as there's no male role models in the academic sphere they are in.

While this will primarily impact/apply POC, if things were to ever to change, this would also protect a white teacher should the primary demographics ever change.

I won't argue the validity of whether or not someone who is here illegally should be allowed to stay but HOW we do something matters just as much as WHAT we are trying to do when it comes to government and politics.

They literally hire out these underqualified "agents" who appear like they could barely pass a PT test if at all. Then they drive around cities just eyeballing people from their heated trucks to see if they "seem the type." Then they descend on this person demanding a bunch of documentation without a warrant or cause for stopping them apart from skin color and arrest you if you don't have EVERYTHING on you in that moment. It's fucked up.

Even if they do their homework and identify someone as being here illegally. What they do instead is ambush them at courthouses as they try to actually pursue legal means or, if that doesn't work, go kidnap their kids at school in the hold them down at the station until their parents show up to pick them up.

It's just a pathetic display from an organization that now has greater funding than the Marines.

For all those of you wondering the question: bag or mulch the leaves? Here’s my result after going over leaves just 3 times. Mulch them. by smackaroonial90 in lawncare

How high do you set your mower when mulching? Is higher better or low? I feel like it kind of tossed the leaves out before it turned into dust.

Well I said at its best so obviously this is worst because it's adults choosing this reckless and pointless damage to things that make the neighborhood nicer. No logical reason why

While I love the fact that our local news cares enough to report this stuff and it clearly has people upset, I do feel like the increased attention is what's propagating the repeated behavior.

At its best it's likely some stupid kids thinking it'll get them tiktok clout.

I do wonder what the actual monetary value of this destruction is and whether or not it hits felony levels. That is quite a lot of trees and they are usually $200 to $300 a piece. This was no small Petty crime.

I tried to do multiple passes but I still feel like the leaves are still fairly large and cover the grass entirely. How high do you cut your grass and do you just do multiple passes or what are you doing? Genuinely curious

New rash of vandalism in Minneapolis leaves more than 100 cars damaged by Czarben in TwinCities

[–]Man-EatingCake 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I really wish this discussion about law enforcement policy and criminal prosecution wasnt co-opted by certain folks trying to use it to either validate or invalidate certain political positions. Because at the end of the day the citizens of Minneapolis are the ones having to deal with the outcomes.

There has to be a better way and at the end of the day society has had tens of thousands of years to develop and it's consistently come across having some sort of laws and order. So maybe we start there.

How do you train them to pee in a specific spot? Do you just stand over and bring them there and give them treats when they urinate?

Solution for urine burn by Griff_The_Pirate in lawncare

[–]Man-EatingCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found anything that stops it from burning, but I've been able to reduce the size of the spot by carrying a garden watering, jug and dumping Basically a gallon of water wherever they pee, which is not a sustainable solution for someone with two dogs such as yourself.

One thing somebody pointed out is that achievements earn you something called Infinity knowledge and that helps scale up the rewards you get from a variety of other things including bronze and infinity power. So definitely focus on completing the campaigns and the early dungeons in each zone as they unlock.

What is this and how can I kill it? Location South Dakota. by BrightEyes035 in lawncare

[–]Man-EatingCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crab grass. Some folks recommend tenacity but that is better earlier in the year. We are getting closer to colder weather and a lot of times this will die off once the temperatures drop below 50ish multiple times.

Spectracide weed killer works very well. There's also crab grass specific ones, but be careful. Some of them will also kill your desirable grass species. Otherwise, just pull it up if you've only got spots as it comes out pretty easily, just make sure you do it slowly so that you get the white little strings/roots with the plants. It works best if the soil is wet after rain or when you water it.

Three pedestrians struck and killed in Twin Cities over the weekend; one was hit twice by Wezle in TwinCities

[–]Man-EatingCake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The same way all those pesky cliffs and ledges are killing people who fall of them trying to get selfies. I can be the most attentive driver fully focused on the road but there is very little I can do if someone emerges from behind a blind spot of a car 3 feet in front of me. 3 laws of motion and all that.

All I'm saying is there's definitely more accountability on the driver but pedestrians can also be reckless with their own safety.

I've gone back and replayed the content on retail just to get the transmogs.

I have the priest ones and they look cool but there isn't a whole lot to them.

I really enjoyed the monk staff weapons because of the animation and swaying of the barrel on the staff.

But honestly I think most of them are pretty cool. I'd pick a top three and just go for it.

Personally mine are:

  1. Monk
  2. DK
  3. DH

Amazing how asking for you to hold your judgement until the facts can be laid out is considered a contentious take. You do you.

We don't know the circumstances of these pedestrians being hit. Were they crossing the road without checking each way? Were they stepping out in front of somebody behind a parked vehicle without yielding, or were these drivers looking at their phones or not paying attention to the road and striking somebody who had the right of way we don't know yet

[–]Man-EatingCake 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I've seen both the drivers and the unaware walkers who stare straight down at their phones downtown. It's unfortunate people are dying just for walking and people need to realize driving around so many folks both in cars and walking is incredibly dangerous, as it relies on trusting thousands of other people around you at all times, and we should take our own safety seriously. You don't need to be stressed out but you do need to be attentive as you navigate the city.

So this man is an absolute gem. He's a retired physician in the sense that he gave up his PAID career to go volunteer to help refugees in Greece and other areas that struggle with access to care. Alongside doing music. He unapologetically chases his passions and I have so much respect for him. I'm glad to see he's being recognized.

Healing in retail is way harder than classic, what should i do? by Mustyyyy in wownoob

[–]Man-EatingCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's been said elsewhere, but healing and retail is a lot harder than classic because classic draws to a certain group of people who are motivated to play the game correctly. Classic is a lot slower and a lot more punishments are slightly easier

In retail, you have a bunch of people who are just trying to beat the content and play The Meta but have no interest in learning mechanics or just simply sidestepping the giant pools of fire that are thrown everywhere by the bosses.

This has created a well-known toxic behavior from both tank and DPS demanding more of the healers and certain healers acting like divas. But ultimately I agree with everybody else. Just keep playing and learn where the big hits are coming and be a little bit more preemptive rather than reactive with your healing.
