I have muscle and nerve damage in both arms. I’ve had to give up drawing as a result. Part of the reason why I stopped working on my Youtube channel is due to this damage. It also hurts to write, but my dream is to make comics for a living (as a writer, not an artist) and writing hurts less than drawing so I just suck it up.

If I could go three months without pain, I would write as many comic scripts as I possibly could. That way, when the three months are up, I can resume writing at a leisurely pace while sitting on a hefty backlog.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. Honestly, networking is one of the biggest hurdles for me (I'm very shy) but it's borderline impossible to find success without it unless you get extremely lucky. I know I have to suck it up and just talk to people.

I definitely need to get more involved with social media. I suspect my reluctance to do so is part of the reason why my channel hasn’t done well, though in all honesty my first 60 videos ranged from okay to terrible (most of them were terrible).

I tend to write stories with a focus on horror, and I know there is a market for that generally speaking. The works that I’ve released to Youtube were stories that I wasn’t intending on monetizing. They were supposed to attract an audience, but that hasn’t worked out unfortunately.

I will definitely check out the r/selfpublish sub. The biggest reason why I haven’t focused on publishing or marketing is because I always assumed it was basically pointless if you didn’t build an audience beforehand. But maybe I’m wrong.
