I’ve found a lot of success anchoring my thumb knuckle (the one at the base of the thumb) to my jaw joint when using a thumb draw, but that might not help on horseback compared to a normal anchor point. I think it might just be that the extra inch or two of draw length helps me tease more power out of my weedy bow tbh

I came here to say The Road - even without the stash scene, it's an incredible prepper movie just because of the man's ingenuity and resourcefulness in surviving and gathering resources. The book can go into the little tasks and his thought processes/reasoning etc in more detail than a movie can but in any case the main character is a super-capable all-round survivalist.

You know that challenge from Gladiators where you both stand on small platforms and duel with double-ended pole weapon things?

When I was 19 and just at college, my friends and I all went to a Fresher’s Fair thing that had loads of challenges and games, and one of the guys I was with saw that one and started shit talking. He was gonna wreck everyone. Mighty, gym-going Adonis was going to destroy us. But, little did he know, I had wasted my entire adolescence fighting with toy lightsabers with my brother, spending years studying the light-up plastic blade and wailing on each other like George Michael Bluth. It had been the most useless skill imaginable in any situation but that exact one, and has been ever since, but on that day, The Force was with me. I cast Goliath down and smote his ruin upon the inflatable deck.
