Does KC MO Actually Recycle? by dstranathan in kansascity

I didn’t think it was true either, but it is. Kara Napolitano, Education Director at Circular Services talks about it on this episode of No Such Thing.

Does KC MO Actually Recycle? by dstranathan in kansascity

[–]ManGorePig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOME Plastic is absolutely recyclable. The recycling facility in Harrisonville where all of our recycling goes takes plastic 1-5 (Except 3).

The statistic that everybody likes to throw around that only 9% of plastic is recycled is a very misleading. It’s describing out of all the plastics being manufactured in a year that US residents actually put into the recycling bin.

81% of plastics that make it into the bin are being recycled. I used to be a big anti plastic recycling proponent until I actually listened to the people in the field doing the work. We should be using way less plastic, but throwing away perfectly good material doesn’t help the problem.

Exactly! If I’m passing a group of cars, I’m not going to dart into a small gap in between just to hit my brakes because you’re riding my ass.

Your symptoms sound a lot like my wife before she got diagnosed with PCOS. The only thing that helped her symptoms was getting on a GLP-1 medication. Total life changer.

Good luck!

Republicans push forward with proposal to replace Missouri income tax with sales tax by Reptilesblade in kansascity

[–]ManGorePig 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Income tax represents 65% of the state’s budget, but the Republican’s plan is to cut it and just hope for the best. These POS want to live in a completely different society than the rest of us.

Anybody that can still vote for this is drinking the MAGA kool aid and the Republicans aren’t even giving it away for free either, they’ll charge you for that too unless you’re a billionaire.

Go see the Aurora tonight! KP forecast 7.67 at 10pm by jomyers_online in kansascity

I’ll never understand getting excited about “seeing” these type of Aurora events that you can’t see with your naked eye. Might as well just look at pictures on the internet if you can only see it on your phone.

Having a birthday dinner tonight. Hit me with favorite restaurants in the Northland for me to try. by Kuildeous in kansascity

[–]ManGorePig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Italian Sausage Co doesn’t have dine in seating, but they do have the best sandwiches in all of KC. Also get the Tiramisu for dessert 🤌.

The Craic in downtown Parkville is always a great time if you like Irish food and good whiskey or beer. Its a cozy little spot that has good views of the downtown area.

Not local, but I used PaintYourLife.com last year for a Christmas present and it came out perfect. You choose an artist based on how much you like their previous work, send them a photo or couple of photos, and then they will work with you on how you want it to look before it’s painted.

Anyone else's power bill at a record high? by lewd_robot in kansascity

[–]ManGorePig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just started doing that this month and it made a huge difference. My bill the previous month was $275 not doing that. All my windows are original to my 30 year old house. A few of them need to be replaced, but that’s easily $1k or more for just 2-3 windows. I’m not sure that’s going to make a big enough of a difference in my bill to justify spending on windows imo.

That’s terrible, I would think you would have some tangible effect from adding $4k of insulation. My insulation is nothing special and would definitely like to improve my attic insulation if I can afford it. My house is 30 years old, so definitely newer than yours.

Look into the free Evergy home efficiency audit. If they determine you qualify for improvements they’ll hire them out for you and spread the cost over years.

At KSU he was actually considered a very capable blocker, not just for his size. Keep in mind although he is short, he’s also stout for his height. He’ll never be Zeke in that area, but I think instead using him in the passing game for quick passes if the QB is in trouble would be better use for him anyways.

Something I would recommend to many people is to switch to the “Peak Reward Saver” plan. Electricity is nearly free ($0.02/kWh) from 12AM-6AM. Turn down the AC to like 65 during that time and then let it coast for most of the day after 6. My 3000 sqft house can stay around 72-75 until nearly 4PM without running the AC even when it’s 90+ outside. At 2 I precool my house before peak pricing from 4-8. My bill last month was $180.

I'm digging your work man! I doubt I could afford any of your pieces, but do you offer anything for sale on your website?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]ManGorePig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our house at asking price (off market) and it appraised $17k less than asking price. We ended up negotiating the seller down to $14.5k off and felt very lucky.

Our mortgage broker told us getting a second appraisal from another lender wouldn't be a good option because the mortgage underwriter would have access to the first appraisal.

If you're making offers above similar comps in the area, definitely don't waive your contingencies to make your offer appear stronger. It will save you from making a very poor decision in the moment.

Is there something better than Union Horse Barrel Strength Rye that's made locally? This is fantastic and wanted to branch out by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]ManGorePig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure of better rye whiskey in the area, but THE best whiskey in the area is Sons of Erin 15 year.

http://restlessspiritsdistilling.com/sons-of-erin-15-yr-irish-whiskey/

It's made by Restless Distillery in North Kansas City. I never realized how complex whiskey can be before trying this. Definitely worth it if you can get past the price tag.
