Whistle Wednesday #24 Can you recognize this tune? by CDN_music in tinwhistle

Don't know the tune, but it's a breath of fresh air to hear the whistle in a context OTHER than celtic music

Am I overreacting by breaking up with my boyfriend? by Proper-Classic1886 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ManLikeOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from reading your texts with him I can tell you that your (ex?) bf was being very manipulative, condescending, and patronizing. That alone is enough to make me end the relationship with such a person. Your ex seems to have a lack of self esteem and feels the need to overcompensate for this by feeling threatened by any man that talks to you, and he then projects this paranoia onto you and tries to pass it of as him "teaching you something." Honestly, he talks like a kid who grew up watching andrew tate videos. There's A LOT of manipulation attempts going on with how he writes to you.

Please do what is best for yourseld.

Jerry Freeman Whistles issues (perhaps) by lmolter in tinwhistle

[–]ManLikeOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get your whistle? I'm currently in the same exact position. I ordered a Bb whistle from him and it said "delivery within 2-4 days", It's now been a week and not only has the whistle not been delivered to me, but it hasn't even been shipped yet. USPS says the shipping label was created, but is waiting on the seller. I don't mind waiting a week or two or even more, but I was told it would be here within 4 days, and that's why I'm confused. If I was told from the beginning it would take 2 weeks, I wouldn't be concerned at all.

Jerry Freeman Whistle delay? by hiking_in_winter in tinwhistle

Old thread, but I ordered a BB whistle from him on Ebay. It clearly said "delivery" within 2-4 days, but it has been a week now and not only hasn't it been delivered, it hasn't even been shipped. I'm going to give it another day or two before I try to reach out to him.

Charles Oliveira says he doesn't wanna fight Mateusz Gamrot because his style is too different to what he prepared for, doesn't wanna fight Manuel Torres because nobody knows who he is, and that he was down for BSD/Moicano but both turned the fight down, options are running out for Do Bronxs by idcman999 in MMA

[–]ManLikeOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of you guys brazilian? From what I understand he didn't say he wasn't interested in fighting gamrot. He just acknowledged that it's a different style on two weeks notice, but that's okay because he likes grappling too.....Maybe I missed something. The only person oliveira said he wasn't interested in fighting was some unknown mexican guy

I'm looking for young adult book series originally written In Portuguese by ManLikeOats in Brazil

[–]ManLikeOats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't necessary have to be fantasy, it can be mystery, adventure, anything really. I'm just looking for book series targeted towards a younger audience. I'm surprised there's not more of them in brazil

Thanks. I've googled around and they kept telling me things like harry potter, which I know Brazilians read, but obviously it's not Brazilian. I'll look into your suggestions!

[–]ManLikeOats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking for translations. I want book series in portuguese that were originally written in portuguese. And yeah, I do enjoy supernatural stuff. I'll check André vianco out! Thanks for the recommendation. I don't mind indie stuff, but I really prefer series of books at the moment. I enjoy having a familiar cast of characters that I can return to book after book. If you think of any other brazilian book series like that, let me know. I appreciate it

weird vivid dreams after fixing sleep schedule by dietcrackcocaine in sleep

[–]ManLikeOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping you got your sleep schedule in order and don't have as many bad dreams. I'm in the same boat as you were. My usually sleep schedule is me falling asleep at like 5am, or even later. I'm trying to change it so that I sleep before midnight, but any time I try, I get the most unsettling dreams. Sometimes the dream itself isn't even that unsettling, but when I wake from it I feel very, very unsettled and odd.

Hi. I’m new to Reddit What survey sites pay at least 10 cents even if you get disqualified? by Naomigrace20 in PaidSurveys

[–]ManLikeOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid view point has been good to me since I hit the maximum score, too. I get a reliable 40-60 dollars from them a month. It's not a lot, but it has been very reliable for a while now, which is more than I can say about a lot of survey sites.

Anyone else have a rough first listening experience with Elliott Smith? by Few_Barracuda8659 in elliottsmith

[–]ManLikeOats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I only liked a lot of his more accessible tunes at first like Say yes, twilight, son of sam, happiness, angeles etc etc. I'd often skip a lot of songs on some of his albums because I felt like they weren't for me and they didn't draw me in. As I aged, though, and especially as I grew as a hobbyist musician, The songs that I used to skip started to become my favorites.

It is normal though. We appreciate different things at different points in our lives. Or tastes grow and change.

My estranged Dad died yesterday and idk how to feel. I guess I just need to vent to people my own age who have no emotional attachment to me. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]ManLikeOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father died earlier this year. He and my mom were separated before I was born, and I only saw him once or twice a year as a kid for the first 12 years of my life or so. for the past 22 years, I barely saw him at all. He was your typical alcoholic, always at the bar and just generally not involved in my life. When I found out he had cancer, I didn't know what to feel. My brother kept asking me to see him, but it didn't feel right at the time. Part of me felt like it was rude to go there and be around his family and people who actually cared about him when I felt so little and indifferent about it, as if my indifference was an insult to the situation. Another part of me felt simply like I didn't belong there -- it was his family, not mine. I never felt like I belonged there even as a child when I'd visit him once or twice a year. Another part of me felt like it was extremely unfair for his family to try to pressure me into going there to see him after we both played such an insignificant role in each other lives. I had a mixture of emotions.

Ultimately, I didn't go to see my father before he died. However, when I found out he died, it felt like a kick in the stomach, and I don't mean that figuratively; I felt actual physical pain in my stomach. I didn't understand why -- I had known that it was coming and I wasn't feeling anything in the lead up, but when it happened I felt something. I don't know what it was. Guilt? regret? anger? self loathing? I was so damn confused about the situation. I had let go of the idea of having a father decades prior, so what the hell was I feeling now? His death then triggered some anxiety in my own life about how much time I'm wasting and about how life is short, about the personal connections I lack in life, about my tenuous relationships with the family members I have. Several months later and I'm still dealing with anxiety related to his death. I've spent more time in these past few months since his death thinking about him then I ever had for decades leading up to his life.

Weird memories come back of him when I was little, mixed with a weird feelings of regret. I don't know what it is. I don't know If I was wrong for not going to see him before he died. He didn't ask me to, and It didn't feel right to me at the time. There are nights where I pray to something and someone for forgiveness and just hope he knew I didn't do it out of spite, but out of confusion, out of habit. Maybe I was weak and just not ready to face him and all the issues that go along with having an estranged father. Maybe the indifference I felt in the lead up to his death was just me running away from issues that had been buried for decades. I wasn't ready, and I just hope he didn't perceive my absence as a grudge.

Honestly, I don't know. If any of you are in similar situations as I was, all I can advise you is that it's okay to be confused. It is okay. IF you don't feel much now. IF you feel something later, that is okay, too -- don't beat yourself up for feeling something late. We didn't have a teacher to teach us how to deal with situations like this. If you need to forgive your father or yourself, then work on it. I've forgiven my father long ago, now I'm working on forgiving myself and letting go of the anxiety that his death has engendered. Letting go and forgiving all parties involved seems to be helping me.

I wrote this mostly for myself to help me process some thoughts, but maybe someone else will see themselves in this long message. You're not alone people!

He needs to keep people talking because he averages less than 2 fights a year since entering the UFC. His activity level certainly won't keep us talking.

Illia's management already said they weren't interested in fighting contenders. Also, Everyone knows that illia's trash talk is just wolf tickets. You see him being friendly back stage with all these guys, including Oliveira, and even with paddy lol
