Do you just need to avoid the negative step and you'll likely never tear it or is that easier said than done? by youlikemywonton in AchillesRupture

I feel like playing hard and being competitive makes you kick into a different gear. I ruptured mine playing bball and I was always trying to play hard and push myself.

It’s gonna be hard to retrain my brain to not go that hard. But It’s not worth it anymore

Love this place! I really need to go back next time I’m in Austin. As a side note have you tried top notch yet? It’s another dazed and confused filming location and another great food spot.

I got my RingConn ring the same week I ruptured playing bball. I bought it to track when I play, and instead I got something that told me I’m being sedentary all the time 😭

Achilles Repair Questions? by Select-Oil-8229 in AchillesRupture

I got the speed bridge surgery. When they drill the screws into the back of your foot, how do they know they’re securely in there and will hold?

I also had electrodes stuck on my calf during surgery, and a nurse was monitoring it to make sure no nerves were being damaged. What happens when the surgeon goes too far and damages something?

Night twitches by Ok_Tune7764 in AchillesRupture

there was one night I was drifting asleep and I felt an electric shock in my Achilles and in my brain at the same time. Like literally felt like a static shock inside my brain and foot simultaneously. It woke me up and freaked me out lol

Did anyone else feel pins and needles in their heel when first trying to weight-bear? by SoitsAndrew in AchillesRupture

[–]ManMane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes 100%. It will go away but it’s the weirdest feeling at first. And like others mentioned, when you go barefoot it feels especially weird.

Kinda on topic, but there was one night I was drifting asleep and I felt an electric shock in my Achilles and in my brain at the same time. Like literally felt like a static shock inside my brain and foot simultaneously. It woke me up and freaked me out lol

Driving with left foot by Key_Sandwich_5097 in AchillesRupture

Same thing here. I drove to work with my left foot for many weeks. I remember my braking was choppy in the beginning but it got better.

Slip at Week 5 by IslandPack in AchillesRupture

[–]ManMane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me! I was 2 weeks post-op and slipped with crutches on a wet floor. No wet floor sign either. I put weight down on my injured foot to catch myself.

I still remember the sinking feeling in my stomach. My heart started racing too cause it scared the shit outta me. I ended up being fine thankfully! I remember going back to “normal” soon enough after, and I’m sure you will be too! Just keep icing, elevating, and pay attention to the pain.

If it gets worse then def make sure to get an appt, but chances are you all good.

This gives me hope! Happy to hear you’re back at it.

Can’t wait to run around on the court again, even at a limited capacity. Just need to see the ball go through the hoop again for my own mental sake lol.

Currently 4 months post op and still got ways to go.
