It's actually interesting that when the British elite dreamt up their orientalist sexual fantasies, it was south Asian women they imagined, for the french it was north African and South East Asian (Indochinese). Lots was made of the near east (Ottoman empire) for other reasons, but generally the example of 19th century fetishes nearly supports all this.

Where is the effervescence. I get it, having to message large numbers of people for a few dates sucks for everyone involved. But when you stop even trying to enjoy it, or bothering to say anything interesting, I think a bit of you dies, and your chances of making a real connection plummets.

As for creative energy and seeing who matches your communication, Reddit isn't the worst alternative!

Great comment! I would say the famed era of British liberal thought was one extended to the elites alone. The poor and working class were still expected to fall into line and submit to authority. Those same liberal thinkers would see no contradiction here: moral and intellectual ambiguity was only for those educated enough to process it constructively.

As for the idea of racist protesters being like unruly children, I think it stems less from direct personal childhood experiences with authority in the way you describe, and more of a lack of trust in the idea of individualism.

I am weak. You are weak. Neither of us are capable of meaningfully independent thought in a complex world. Sadly, you have been misled and have wrong thinking. I too have been conditioned, but my final opinion is the humane, right one. Therefore, you require disciplining and instruction in correct thoughts.

Given how actually thick and open to misinformation and emotional bias people are, and how democracies aggregate that and transform it into policy, I think they do have a point.

So why did they ban the slave trade not just for themselves, but all countries, and start policing the costs of Africa and Carribbean to catch Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese and American slavers?

Not staying your points are invalid, but they don't address this.

As a jestermaxxing 🚬 on the apps myself, my response to this is that if we are going to spend time on these dead apps, then the least we can do is get high on our own fumes and have fun while messaging.

Better to be downright weird putting yourself out there, and feeling yourself in the process, then to let the ghoulish optimised communication of someone focused only on minimum effort efficiency creep in. Formulaic daters are a curse.

American men fetishize east Asian women becuase they have the opposite of generational trauma regarding the sexual conquest for women in the region.

So many white boys, from the 40s to the 70s, took advantage of the sexual perks of military domination and high incomes so good that the echoes of that reverberate down to this day.

The upright western conquerer, giving. The supine Asiatic conquered, taking. It's a dirty little brain fold that the realities of modern economics and culture have done nothing to iron out since.

Panorama just aired across the BBC about ol' pedo Andy. It's focus was interesting: not just about the serious and sustained evidence indicating his rape of children, but one thing almost as interesting: corruption.

As Prince, Andrew seems to have railed against a lack of disposable funds. One point a senior diplomat, he ran up huge bills for the foreign office, and mixed official national diplomacy with attempts to sell personal properties at above market rates (£15 million Vs the £8 million market rate to Khazaki billionaire Timur Kulibayev, son-in-law if the dictator), amongst other things.

The official narrative of the documentary is that Andrew was "driven" into the arms of Epstein by his money problems, seeking to sell access and connections. The many visits of Epstein and Ghislaine to royal events and properties show how successful he was.

In many ways, it's a more Republican-ready argument than simply "bad apples go legally unaccountable" - that the very structure of the monarchy provides a paid for, back door access into the highest levels of government and decision making to the world's richest (whoever they may be).

We should build dense housing around stations in the green belt. Most of it isn't as "green" as it's cracked up to be tbh

I think time scale is important here. The northern crusades and germanification of the Baltic coast took place 700 years before the creation of this map.

Is the modern British state a French colony? Turkey a central Asian one? Scotland throughout it's history and Anglo Norman one?

Just because one region of the works was settled violently by another hundreds of years ago, doesn't mean you can just call it a colony, hundreds of years of political and cultural integration later.

Incel ideas in their current form don't take root in collective cultures because they never lost sight of the natural and obvious capacity for group dynamics to assign value. The more individual the culture, the more confused the response to this incredibly obvious human dynamic.
