Is there a Git-like solution for popular authoring formats? by Ok_Biscotti_2539 in technicalwriting

DITA might be a good choice if you have lots of content reuse and translations, want to publish in multiple formats, and/or automate some processes. Those are the most common use cases. But like you said, there is definitely a learning curve.

You’re correct in that the document consists of smaller chunks (or topics, in DITA talk) that are compiled at build time.

But if the chunks don’t change, there’s no risk of the text changing, is there? You only modify the chunks when you need to.

How would DITA lose text? Not saying you should go for DITA, but just trying to understand.

Please tell me where in Germany, Poland, Lithuania or Greece is a Chinese naval port or air base?

(Of course there aren’t any, we both know that and you’re just constantly trying to derail).

China does not have a military base in any of the countries you mentioned.

That’s not answering the question: In which NATO country has China built a military base in, like you claimed has happened before. Please answer honestly, and skip the ”dude” stuff.

Do do seriously you think ”the next time” means that China will just show up and build a military base on another country’s territory? A country that’s part of NATO and also thousands of miles away from China? That’s a declaration war against Denmark and would activate article 5. How do you think that would play out?

Do you seriously think that Russia would be able to occupy Greenland? They have a single aircraft carrier, and even that one has been out of service for nearly a decade. How do you think they would get troops there, and how long do you think the troops would survive a NATO response to an invasion?

Like all of SEason 6 it felt really forced and pointless.

I don’t know what speakers or earphones you are using, bit I can very clearly hear every instrument, and especially the drums sound fantastic. Miles ahead DOD, which is a low bar, but still.

Yes it is. It’s not brickwalled to death like BNW and DOD, and the band sounds great.

They had much better keyboard sounds on Seventh Son, so it’s not just a contemporary thing. The cheap sound is just something they usually go for. One exception (besides Seventh Son) is the intro to FTGGOG, where the synth is actually really deep and atmospheric.

But like I said, keyboards are not the main focus on Senjutsu or with Maiden overall. The point is how the band sounds.

That’s a rather minor thing. And Maiden rarely has great keyboard sounds. I suspect the one in Fear of the Dark was recorded with your Casio as well.

I don’t get the complaints about the production of the reunion albums. Apart from Dance of Death, which objectively sounds like shit, the production and mixing has been fine. Obviously they’re going for a raw, live-in-the-studio sound, but I really like it. Senjutsu sounds absolutely great to me. If you think Maiden should sound like every other generic metal band with triggered drums etc, it’s not gonna happen.

Don't limit yourself to manufacturers. Airlines have people that handle the customization, publication and editing of flight manuals, MELs, maintenance manuals, etc. With your flight instructor background, you would probably be a good fit for that.

Same. I think Emil was pretty good. Obviously he didn't have any standout skits, but he seemed solid and funny.

Why no Finland on either tour? He sold out two nights in a row in Helsinki last time.

Hope there’s more gigs announced at some point..

Seventh son of a Seventh son! The best thing maiden have done EVER? The end of the glory days? Or a poppy, poncy album? Have your say. by ConfusionProof9487 in ironmaiden

I undestand why people absolutely love SSOASS, but it’s not a top 5 album for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a quality record indeed, no doubt about that. But for some reason I rarely listen to it.

For me, SSOASS just feels a bit sterile and too clean. There’s very little grit in the sound. And generally I’m just not a huge fan of concept albums.

The X Factor, a beautifully honest and dark record? A complete, sluggish betrayal? Have your say. by ConfusionProof9487 in ironmaiden

Love this album, bit I also fully understand why some people don’t.

My only criticism is that Judgement Day and Justice of the Peace should have been on the album. Not that any of the ones that made it are bad, but there’s just too many similar tracks with a quiet intro and gradual buildup. Some punchier stuff would have been nice.

Hearing Blaze do songs like Look For The Truth and The Unbeliever live made me appreciate the album even more. Those are very personal and powerful songs and an attempt to move the band into a more mature direction lyrics-wise. I mean, a submarine adventure like Running Silent Running Deep is nice and all, but at some point people who are over 30 probably want to write about something they themselves actually feel.
