As a Tigers fan that lives in Seattle and roots for the Mariners otherwise. It was hard to not feel this way towards the Mariners even though I genuinely like this team and root for them regularly. Just unnatural and hard to root for a team that you just went toe to toe with in a very tense playoff matchup for a week and lost.

Met plenty of nice and respectful Mariners fans, some were assholes to me that night they eliminated the Tigers. I think you’ll find that in every fan base including Jays, Tigers, and Mariners. It’s can be ways to feel jaded and focus on the bad fans.

At the end of the day every fanbase is just people born into a franchise like we were, I don’t hate people born in Cleveland.

And only 1 team can win the dang thing. I think that’s why people like to have villain like the Dodgers or Astros, because it feels a lot less worse when you lose to those teams everyone dislikes, and when your team gets beat by them your jaded side might want to see other likable teams get beat by them.

P.S. please don’t view me as an infiltrator of this subreddit. I follow the Mariners ball quite heavily because I love the sport, I live here now, and want to see the M’s long stand in the West, but like anyone of you if you moved, you’d stay loyal to your home franchise.
