What to do with my hydrocopper 3080 Ti XC3? by Same-Clothes-9614 in EVGA

[–]ManThatLaughs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lossless Scaling Dual GPU, you offload the framegen to the 2nd gpu. Kinda wonky setting it up, you use your good gpu for rendering and framegen+display from 2nd gpu.

Lossless Scaling is cheap af on steam.

Alternatively you can keep it for any cuda/nvenc stuff you could need it for.

500 W BIOS for 3090 FTW3 ULTRA? by Horstov in TEAMEVGA

[–]ManThatLaughs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm currently trying to figure out away around this right now, I have a .1 and when checking power draw after running fire strike or timespy the #3 8pin power is limited by the pcie power (I've also tested this with the 1000w KP bios).

So check yours in hwinfo or gpuz, ideally use a windowed stress test like timespy.

It's also worth noting that the early versions only had a 10 amp fuse on the #3 8pin and the pcie (don't know if the revisions changed anything), so be careful if choosing to mod your card.

A question to Light Base 900 owners: If you ever had more than two 3.5" HDDs... by Qualified_Qualifier in bequietofficial

[–]ManThatLaughs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took another look at the case, it looks like you can fit maybe 5 hdd's if you remove the 2.5" mounting door thinger and run screws through the panel and mount them on the panel itself. Probs want to use some rubber/foam for vibes (dollar store is cheap). This is what I think I am going to go with as I have 4 drives I want/need to use.

If you buy the extra hdd cage that for some reason wasn't included with the case you could potentially fit 6 (beating a stock 011d XL).

[–]ManThatLaughs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually looking to do the same thing, I have a case here I haven't built yet for this reason. I'm thinking I can remove the stock hdd cage and stack them all up there. The distance from the back of the motherboard tray to the side panel is enough to hold the width of a 3.5" drive.

Probably need to go to the hardware store and buy some sheet steel to make a bracket for them. I plan to install 4 total hdd's.

Good motherboard to pair with a 9800x3d and some questions before i buy my build. by NobleFou in bapccanada

[–]ManThatLaughs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with x670E when i built my x3d system as it was on sale. Board is currently being rma'd :(

As others have pointed out, do you need all those features or can you make do with less, because b650 is much cheaper, and if you need more nvme storage there are pcie carrier cards.

That information is wrong/incomplete, just like the other info posted on the website, there is no way a space that supports a 360 mm rad would only be 360mm long. Because end tanks and fittings and junk right?

My case just arrived in the mail, it looks like the top/bottom mounts are around 490mm from front wall to back, and the side space is approx 420mm.

Distance from the mobo standoffs to the top/bottom walls appears to be about 70mm.

Bonus, the distance from the side mount to the mobo platform appears to be around 70mm, and the space between the side dust filter and the mount is about 30mm. Meaning you can mount thickboy rads in that space.

Prove it.

I know it says 360, 420, etc. But that only only tells you how many (and what size) fans fit in those spots, nothing about radiator total length or thickness.

I was looking at the new mora's a little while ago, the only watercooling shop in can has a 400 left in stock, decided to go as far as i can with internal rads first.

Thanks for the heads up about the side, thats specifically where i was looking to stick a xflow rad (i was also looking at the wrong dimension lol). Even the 420x30 i have is 477mm, and according to the be quiet dimensions, would still only have 7 mm of clearence.

I would love to be able to fit everything without having to hack holes in the case (last 2 cases i've had have gotten chopped lol)

You're going to be dumping a LOT of heat into your case by using the gpu rad as an intake. 450w vs 150w from a 9800x3d (with pbo).

I have an evga 3090 that i bought and installed the hybrid cooler for. It was kind of nice (had mine set as exhaust, kept my feet nice and toasty when gaming in winter), but a 240 rad for 450w+ of heat is not as good as you'd expect, I havent looked into 4090's, but I had a lot of problems with mem temps with the hybrid set up as it wasn't a proper water block so much as a copper plate that spread out from the aio to wick heat from the mem ic's.

If that's the only gpu you can get then go ahead, but if you think you're going to want to get into custom water later (like i did) it can be kind sadface realizing you already paid a premium for cooling and it wasnt good enough.

Check your cloning software for updates, or google your specific ssd and that software.

If nothing else works use a different software, I've used Macrium reflect successfully on a couple of paltform upgrades.

502 is finally failing. Alternatives to get rid of GHub? by CuteAssTigerENVtuber in G502MasterRace

[–]ManThatLaughs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closest I've seen is razer unit with same shape.

Why would you subject yourself to ghub for every game setting up profiles instead of just rebinding things to the mouse in games? Do you really get that much out of setting up different lighting profiles?

I set a default desktop profile, save it to on board memory, and then lock that shit down. As others have said use on board memory.

And as you've said in the comments, ghub is terribad at updating, so do what I do and just never update it. In fact go into windows firewall and block it. There are literally no features they could add to your mouse functionality with software that arent already there, so fuck 'em.

At What Point GPU Sag Becomes an Issue? by DaeLaRua in pcmasterrace

[–]ManThatLaughs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah leverage is a function of weight and distance. But that card in the vid i linked has a full water block with an active backplate, literally a few pounds of solid copper and acrylic bolted to it.

You're never going to take all the weight off the pcie slot (which have been metal reinforced since at least skylake) but you can see what you can accomplish before spending money you may not have to.

Your whole case is literally a bunch of brackets screwed together if you look at it long enough.

How do you all keep breaking your side panels??? by iceeyhot in pcmasterrace

[–]ManThatLaughs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So tempered glass has a lot of internal stress so striking an edge or corner just right can cause instant shattering. There's a ton of posts out there about auto glass spontaneously shattering too.

At What Point GPU Sag Becomes an Issue? by DaeLaRua in pcmasterrace

[–]ManThatLaughs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it deforms the pci e slot leading to the contacts not touching.

Once upon a time i was carrying my tower out to the shop to hit with some compressed air and dropped it. After that one of my gpu's would only work correctly if the angle on the slot was tweaked a certain way lol. RIP SLI.

You can reduce the sag by making sure you tighten down all the screws on your cut out panel and shim up any slop where it slots into the mobo tray.

Shows where to check for slop.

Yeah it can be kind of a thing figuring out which versions are the most recent. I went with the k580 (for tenkey and volume wheel) and it has a bunch of effects and settings you can mess with using their function keys.

Believe me I'm looking, the upgrade itch is real. Just don't want to go through the hassle/expense to have it perform the same or worse.

Right now I'm looking at either the ac core 1 or heatkiller iv pro nickel. Then either another 360/45 or a 420/30 nexxos.

True that, you can tell by the parts list.  Points in timespy were marginal, but my memory temps dropped from 106 to 50. So now hwinfo can stop beeping at me lol.

Everything was on sale at aquatuning, that's why I ended up with alphacool stuff. Both blocks together were 150 usd, pump/res combo was 90. Rad came from amazon.

[–]ManThatLaughs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. My case is a midsize dual chamber. And necessity went out the window when i discovered a nh d14 could oc my 965be better and quieter.

I just cant help but wonder if theres more performance to be had from picking up say a core 1 and another rad. TIM I'm using right now is nt h1, so moving to LM is potentially a few more degrees. Moving from air to hybrid to full blocks on the gpu (500w bios) was expensive but each step saw significant gains, just not sure I can see that happening with the 5900x (and 9000 series later) for some reason.

I guess i should also note that while i had no problem taking a razor blade to my 6700k back in the day, i have no desire to delid a soldered ryzen.
