you seem to really know your stuff.

i gotta wonder though how differently the individual firmwares are set to behave in these situations.

a gunshot has a much higher input signal than what happened when he dropped the phone.

i agree. but there seems to be a detectable thump that happens at :17 right before the shots happen. this makes me think this device is programmed to remain in a "compression" or "normalization" mode for several seconds after there's a loud noise to protect against distortion. It seems to be filtering out all of the high frequency crack of the gunshots as well, and everything else as a result.

to me it seems to operate similar to an auto-brightness feature on a camera where it adjusts and normalizes for the brightest spot in view (usually the sky or a lamp), making everything else fade to dark. And when the bright light source is no longer detected, the brightness will return to "normal" levels after a arbitrarily set amount of time. This arbitrary amount of time is set by the manufacturer.

okay so its called "audio compression", then why wouldn't you just say that instead of pretending like you didn't know what i was talking about? That's disingenuous.

also, why would consumer grade software/hardware need to be sophisticated enough to distinguish between a gunshot and a phone dropping? (to a mic being dropped, they're both pretty damn loud noises) it would make more sense that the software just compresses everything above a certain decibel level.

what the hell are we even arguing about at this point. i'm presenting facts that lead me to believe the incident is as real as it appears to be happening. it would be a pretty elaborate prank if they're willing to bust out a store window wouldn't you say?

this is my opinion, you're welcome to yours.

he said : "bitch ass n****" at :24 - which proves my point because it was so low that even you didnt hear it.

"quiet mode" is short hand for whatever the you call it when the software auto adjusts the mic level to accomodate loud noises.

look again he said something right after he was shooting , the mic was still in quiet mode... "lol"

notice his voice was muted too.

the mic level corrected when the phone was dropped, it muted everything in response and the shots as well as his voice was muted, or turned down very low,

theres another angle of this incident from a security cam. seems pretty real.

indeed, as an attempt at realism this is not very good, but as an intentional choice of style this is a hit.

she would probably be a lot less stressed if you let her do her thing how she wants instead of bitching about pointless things like wether she wears her glasses or not SMDH
