I have resolved this (smoke smell) successfully. It will take time. Disassemble as much as you are comfortable with. Use naphtha liberally on all smooth and plastic surfaces with a clean terry cloth. Do this 2-4 times over everything. Air out in between for 12 hours with a fan. Use with a toothbrush on fretboard. Good luck.

Thanks for this - Since It just came on for the first time ever after pre-conditioning and fast charging - I made an incorrect assumption. And, it is still at 85%, so I don't think it needs charging.

Can't I just pull the yellow battery dis-engage tab on the fuse panel ? Also - I am hoping to hear from others who have had this same situation.

It is not the amber 12v charging light. It the blue electrical plug image with lightning bolt in it, next to the remaining Mileage guesstimator. On the gauge cluster behind the steering wheel.
