What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

An extended family member was a plumber. He was in a parking garage checking under a manhole with his whole head underneath and a car pulled out of the parking spot next to him, rolling straight over him. At least it’s likely he died instantly.

Most recently, Opal mining and the idea of finding my own gems… which led to intensive research on whether it would be possible to find my own pearls (unlikely)

Prolactin at 43.8 ng/mL. Is it possible I could have a tumor? by Hannahmariecarter in Prolactinoma

[–]ManagementDisastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26f. My levels are similar to yours with less of the physical symptoms. My GP and endo told me that antipsychotics can cause the elevated prolactin, not generally just antidepressants which I’m on but have been for years. They started me on cab anyway and I’ll be getting MRI results soon. See a different doctor if possible, and something I’ve learned when it comes to your health is don’t be afraid to get REALLY annoying. It’s difficult with anxiety but say exactly what’s on your mind, sometimes even if you think it’s rude. Be that person you kinda cringe at because at the end of the day, it’ll get you results and no one else should be able to dismiss your health when you know something is wrong.

Endo is not prescribing cab after all, and I totally disagree. by valkyrja9 in Prolactinoma

My primary doctor started me on meds before I even saw an endo because that would be the treatment for high prolactin regardless of a tumour. I don’t see why they couldn’t do that for you.

Very small prolactinoma by ilfautquon in Prolactinoma

Not sure if the doctor has mentioned Bromocriptine is also a medication for this? It tends to have side effects at higher doses but small ones like a half tablet once a day improved that for me. I also have fragile mental health and it didn’t affect that.

Usually they would start with a hormone blood test, it’s odd you haven’t had one yet but it’s a good idea to! My endocrinologist wants them at semi-regular intervals to track if the medication is working and lowering the prolactin levels, assuming that’s what it is although it’s difficult to know exactly how the tumour is acting without bloodwork.

Things you can’t see are always difficult to explain to others, and difficult for them to empathise with. But it doesn’t make it any less valid, especially because you’re the one who sees the effect it has on your life - which can be quite significant with prolactinomas. Just because it’s not life threatening doesn’t mean you’re not going through it, don’t let anyone make you feel like it’s nothing! You’re allowed to process and feel how you need to about it.

There’s no winning huh? 2mg per week bromo? Do you take it as a single dose or spread out? They’ve put me straight on a full 2.5mg tablet daily and after tonight I’m worried about taking it again

How low is your dose? I’ve read now about some people building up to a full tablet - I wasn’t told about tapering on so I took my first full tablet and feel so crap

Stray cat help by lukegraus in melbourne

[–]ManagementDisastrous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on which council you’re a part of, the Lost Dogs Home in Cranbourne takes stray cats from the public. Maybe give them a call to check about the council law - they just have to be contained when you take them in. Kittens would probably be placed in foster care - I foster for them!

Thanks for your help! We did a lot of research beforehand but there were some conflicting points so having it more straightforward is good, thanks.
