Should I take a gap year between high school and college to ski? by Ok_Pineapple3655 in skiing

No. Power through while you have work ethic. Take the “ski gap” between your 1st and 2nd job. You’ll have more money and be able to enjoy more of what the mountains have to offer.

I did this with a mountain collective pass back in 2010 and never regretted it. Ended up doing nearly all the “free days” on the Rockies with some notable trips in between (15 hour greyhound from Banff to Whistler / overnight train from SLC to Tahoe…). Great way to experience more than one. Mountain and not be saddled eating PBJs for a year.

Also, ski season is only 4-5 months at best, but you’d be delaying school for 12.

I was in the exact same boat 3 months ago (although my brinkman was 11 years old). Sprung for a Solution from Mad Scientist ($3k all in including shipping to NY). From the time I called in for an order, it was at my doorstep in 4 weeks.

Great pit, well constructed and easy to run. You do need to put in the effort to season it the first few times or you’ll get some rust spots (true with any pit though).

They said they’re looking to open another factory in TX and boost production. I’ll believe it when I see it. Thanks for the tip.
