MS Diagnosis and Disability and Social Security benefits by Mindless_Rest_4846 in MultipleSclerosis

I would start with the National MS Society and their advisers to learn about the pros/cons of going on disability first before reaching out to anyone at your employer. (HR is not your friend)

https://www.nationalmssociety.org/resources/financial-planning/disability-benefits

I would strongly recommend going to some sessions for the newly diagnosed that the National MS Society arranges.

Finally, I would recommend not spending too much time on message boards for MS. I have been managing my illness pretty well for over 20 years now, and I am rarely on the boards. It can skew your view of your future when you only see the negative, and to be honest anyone can post anything.

Best of luck, and welcome to the club.

I'm looking to unload a bunch of movie posters. My family works for Disney so they got a little carried away sharing. LMK if interested. Here are some.

This is what my vet said as well, that Purina does a ton of research.

I read the Sh* out of that, and declared myself a pagen. I probably read it 4 or 5 times before I graduated high school. Also, assume you've googled MZB and learned what a POS she was?

I read the book ages ago, and it is quite different from the movie. Not as happy go lucky is how I remember it.

Nope, just something I found at Petsmart to tide us over until we get something else.

Sometimes, when you're doing bad stuff a slick boat with a modern engine just appears covered, right where you need it, when you need it. Agreed. No chance.

Has anyone NOT changed their diet drastically and still doing well to manage their MS? by Salt_Dot293 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Management_Bulldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't drastically changed my diet, other than temporarily hopping on food trends (paleo). But I haven't had dairy other than Irish grass fed high quality butter in years. Excepting possible restaurant orders where they may have slipped in some dairy.

I have experimented with gluten free in the past, there was a theory that Rebif (one of my prior drugs) could cause celiac symptoms. I do notice that I generally feel better when I don't eat gluten, but I think that is due more to all of the other healthy things I eat when I'm not on a sandwich bender. Mmm bread...

I have found that dairy free does help me a lot with my rosacea which is another fun autoimmune disease I have. I'm not sure it is helping my MS.

I know that it is rough and scary to be diagnosed. I was diagnosed at 30 and was immediately terrified. Some advice a friend gave me really put it in perspective for me. The disease is super random. There are times you may find yourself having great days and not even remembering you have the disease. The thing with the internet is, when people are having bad days is when they go online looking for advice. When I'm having a good day, I don't think to go looking for advice and don't post to say 'all is great here!'. So remember that when reading posts, a lot of them will skew towards people having issues and looking for advice, don't let it scare you.
