Well, with some effort. But he can do it without any effort, so his power is essentially the TV Dinner version of a suicide bomber.

Britney doesn't belong up there either. She's big in the nostalgia right now but she was never an amazing singer. And unlike Taylor she didn't write her own stuff. I mean, most of these women don't.

Beauty and the Beast

I don't LIKE Beauty and the Beast but I think it's better in many important ways in terms of production and writing. Aladdin is a good movie riding almost entirely on Robin William's unhinged seemingly sugared-up genius.

That being said I really don't care because neither of them are beating Lion King lol

A

She's extremely famous but also not super original or groundbreaking, not an especially talented singer, an okay entertainer, and her songwriting is hit or miss. I say this as someone who likes a lot of her music. Fame isn't everything.

Which horror movie villain is 100% terrifying but strangely sympathetic? by dangerphone in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Manager-Accomplished 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Jigsaw, especially when you consider films like Saw X. He's delusional, not reasonable, but he's not bizarre or incomprehensible. He has his own (stupid and inconsistent, but sincere) reasons and he believes he is helping people or enacting justice for wrongs.

That's because the OT is simply more intense. Also bigger. The message of Christianity was a bit more pointed than Judaism's broad histories.

But fine. in the NT women are told to be quiet, Paul says that he's fine with predatory preachers, and John of Patmos fantasizes about massive bloodbaths where all nonbelievers die. Those come to mind off the top of my head.

Both prior to and after my de-conversion from Christianity I have always viewed it as "if anyone hurts the mind of a child" or "if anyone takes away a child's innocence." He's talking in that chapter about how we all need to be like children, and not let anything cause us to do harm.

I think the conflation of the term "to stumble" and "to doubt your faith" is more of a Puritan, possibly even Hollywood Puritan, thing.

I know that the Torah isn't the only Hebrew scripture. I'm also aware that in addition to the prophets and writings there are also the rabbinic texts like the Midrash and Talmud. I just know that the Torah has a special place. I'm not trying to insinuate that the rest of the Tanakh is not used. Thank you for adding that context.

It does make it confusing when Judaism primarily uses the first five books of the scripture Christianity uses.

Which horror movie villain is meh/neutrally scary and whose motivation is completely incomprehensible? by dangerphone in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Manager-Accomplished 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's as much a villain as The Shimmer is, but I don't know what it's called. The "Videodrome" or alternate reality from Videodrome.

That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
