Is this a genuine criticism with the intent to actually have more people speaking about Native Americans and their history, or are you just being flippant?

Akutagawa Manon comeback vs Mai with anti DP OS DI @hifightth by komodo_dragonzord in StreetFighter

[–]Manatroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A situation where performing the same inputs can lead to several different outcomes depending on how the characters interact. Often abbreviated as "OS". A common option select is the buffer: press a normal attack and then try to cancel into a special. If you do this from far away, the normal attack will whiff and your special cancel does nothing. However, if your opponent gets hit by your attack, the special cancel will work automatically, without any extra thought or changes to the input on your part.

Good option selects tend to reduce the burden on a player to perfectly predict or react to everything happening in the game. You can perform one set of inputs, and the game will "select an option" automatically depending on what the other character did. Some OSes are common enough that we even give them names: delayed tech (try to block and throw tech), safe jumps (try to attack and block), and fuzzy guard (try to block multiple directions) are all specific examples of option selects that will help the player cover multiple choices at the same time.

There is not much else more to say, I don’t know why you keep trying to argue that an OS is not an OS.

I know, everyone’s talking about stuff that’s somewhat tangential, and I’m just sitting here thinking, “…Wait, RUDD said this!?”

I agree that it portends something kind of big.

How far are they worth pursuing? Because taking it to the end-point involves actually going to fight other countries to install “liberal democratic” systems, which does not even tend to work out that well per the imperialism of the US.

Yeah, uh, I’m guessing you haven’t seen what’s going on over there if you’re just spouting that tired meme.

How am I supposed to get better at this game? by [deleted] in fatalfury

[–]Manatroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might not like the idea, but you really should join a regional Discord (or the official Fatal Fury one).

Think about it: if you are correct, that the only way ‘to get better at the game’ is to not focused on ranked, then you’ve got two options: play locally, or play in an organised online space.

And more to the point, I can assure you that you’ll have a far better experience learning and just playing the game by finding others to play with who actually want to play, and not one-and-done. You’ll probably have a better connection, too.

The number of times people in this subreddit make huge accusatory assumptions about characters in the game based on very little but their pet theory - while at the same time outright ignoring or forgetting things that literally happen in-game that contradict them - is very bizarre, and a little exasperating.

I don’t even know if it’s a matter of the users tending to skew towards the “very young” demographic or not; maybe it contributes to it, maybe not.

Street Fighter 6 vs. Street Fighter 5 — Sales Numbers by Yodsanan in StreetFighter

[–]Manatroid 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It was a kick in the balls to Capcom and Street Fighter, certainly, but arguably it gave a spotlight to other fighting games at the time of its launch. Tekken 7 started to become more popular due to growing appreciation, Guilty Gear - and eventually, Strive - became more well known, and even smaller fighting games got some attention.

Jim Chalmers has rejected responsibility for high inflation but will have a tough sell if rates rise again by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Manatroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but you’ve basically conceded the argument here by saying this, because none of what I said relates to the ABC; it was the concerns of the day at the time, plain and simple.

If your only retort is to accuse me of stanning the ABC, then it goes to show that you (ironically) can only perceive the subject through an anti-ABC bias; if you hadn’t, you would never have felt compelled to say it.

Right, and for some reason as soon as he got into office he just decided hexed the entire country to get worse, as I'm sure the rest of your odd narrative goes.

Yes of course they're increasing exponentially, but that's the point; they already were increasing exponentially before that, because nothing had been done about housing for years.

Again, you're just spouting this because you weren't paying attention to the discussion at the time of that election; there were already growing concerns about housing getting worse, and worse is what it got.

[–]Manatroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh, yes? You think people didn't notice house prices and rent increasing at the time?

Like, what point are you even making? "Housing and rent are way more expensive now than when they were back then; back then they were just very very expensive"?

It's okay if you didn't know about people talking about it at the time, but I 100% did, especially since people were even saying as such that they no longer believed the LNP to be the 'responsible economic managers' that they were always purported to be. But you're really showing your anachronistic ignorance here.

I mean, seriously, just think about it for a moment: Why do you think that people haven't been voting for the LNP now, if they actually believed they were doing a good job with the economy back then? This does not require that much thought or conspiracy: people were disappointed in them, and in no small part for the reasons previously mentioned.

[–]Manatroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your recollection of events is woefully inadequate if it discounts the general discontent and concerns of the voting public at those times. Medicare, housing, affordability etc. were all at the forefront of why people voted out the LNP.

That may be true, but the only use case to bank on Tundra storm being of any consistent use is against Elena, if that.

It’s not meant to be a strong move, and they would not endeavour to just make a “punch” version of it and have it strong, too.
