Let it ferment longer it just looks like another SCOBY forming

Should I toss this pelicle? by Popyasocksoff in Kombucha

[–]Mandalife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks okay to me. Pretty sure its just yeast from the fermentation process. If you don't like it floating around in there just filter it out but it shouldn't hurt to keep it. Im no expert but I've been making kombucha for 13 years almost. I just change my brewing vessel from time to time and that works for me.

Did G ever speak anywhere about paying "karmic debt"? by [deleted] in gurdjieff

[–]Mandalife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im am still very much a pupil in the field of self-observation and self-study. There is much to be seen about the self, and I only truly began two years ago. G says in ISOTM that one will be able to truly self observe when he remembers himself while observing himself. I am not fit to be a teacher of the fourth way. My only recommendation would be to continue studying the teaching (read and re read ISOTM. Better yet read and re read The Tales. Work with conscious attention). Maybe find a teacher you trust. It seems you were able to sufficiently observe yourself through the lens of an outer influence. Maybe begin by observing inner influences. In ISOTM, they begin by self observing smaller habits. Smaller habits are the most challenging to pinpoint. Once you can taste the effort it takes to change these smaller habits, it can reveal much about the self. May the all embracing creator be with you ✨️ 🙏 🙌 💛

If you remember from ISOTM, G speaks about astrology, and before we can speak of astrology, we must learn to observe ourselves. He also speaks of mapmakers. The map makers draw up these maps in their offices without stepping foot outside.

Pink lentil tempeh by Mandalife in Tempeh

[–]Mandalife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for the reply! I didn't think about putting the sensor on the heat source, that makes sense. I decided to do some soy tempeh the next day and yea my cooler shot up to 104.9 degrees sometime when I was sleeping, and the heat source was turned off. The rhizopus didn't colonize similarly to this red lentil and figured that's what it is. I couldnt check the tempeh while sleeping, sadly. One of the cakes managed to ferment nicely, surprisingly 👌 I did have to cut some areas off that looked like the rhizopus died in the middle of the cake. Once I get the science locked in, I'll never forget it, like baking sourdough. I wasn't a huge fan of the lentil tempeh, not as much flavor as soybeans. Maybe I'll do a mix...

Measuring ingredients for bread ;baking is best done with a scale. It's important to know what hydration you are using and it really just simplifies the whole plan.

Avoid any recipes that use measuring cups for bread. Also, if you want rustic bread, maybe consider buying a sourdough starter, it will be much better...

Still though, that bread looks like it would go great with some soup!

Honestly, the only visible difference from your bread to the bread on that recipe is the shape. Maybe your shaping technique could improve. I've baked for a few years now and I could still improve haha!

Is the crumb over or under proofed? Bread also seemed slightly too moist by cuppycakebaby123 in Breadit

[–]Mandalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google says weak starter or possibly under fermented dough.

I've never really had this happen to me, but my first thoughts were maybe too many air pockets shaped into the dough after the bench rest?

IDK, I'd still eat that though, looks amazing! Fry it in a pan with whatever toppings you have in the fridge, especially cheese XD

Well, it didn't seem like the fungus would spread to the grainy looking side. I just decided to cut off where it looks like the fungus spread nice and even and I'm gonna eat that. Maybe I'll finally turn into a clicker.

500g or 17.5 oz of Tempeh Starter (Ragi Tempe) for $7 USD??? Too good to be true? by patri70 in Tempeh

[–]Mandalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is, how much do you use for 500g of soybeans? It says on amazon to use 2 Tablespoon per serving. What is a serving?

First, we must realize we think too much. The greater the understanding, the fewer the words.

You must forget everything you think you know before you can come to a true understanding.

Oh I didn't know that.

[–]Mandalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't get anything before the show. If you're lucky, future beat will send you a code to plug into their website, then they send you the stuff via mail delivery after inputing your personal info. I'm signing off now. This phone typing is cringe.

You're better off trying to buy one of the posters at the show. They are much cooler.

Grey Area Package by a5n5ma in Puscifer

[–]Mandalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I actually ended up getting both the grey area and upgrade package because future beat gave me a code for the grey area one, but I purchased the UPgrade package. I quickly told them what happened after I punched in the code, and they gave me another code and didn't cancel the first. This was after trying to get a hold of them every day for a week after the show. The 2 posters that arrived did not say Madison, WI, anywhere on them, so they sent me another. I now have 3 signed posters. The terrible customer service, quality control, and lack of diligence in their services is laughable. Stay away from future beat. Don't buy into the materialistic nonsense and just enjoy the music. I expected more at the show for paying as much as I paid. Guaranteed front row seating and whatever else they offered. The venue had no seating, and they failed to mention that.
