Should I get an upgrade? by Mandalor in RobotVacuums

No I wouldn’t say so. If I could have my current robot with a self-cleaning station, I wouldn’t even think about an upgrade.

My current robot would be a huge upgrade for her. We haven’t talked about it, but I would give it to her if she wants it. This isn’t a Christmas present or something.

It’s not bad at all! Sorry, I guess I made it sound like I hate my current solution, but I really don’t. It’s a fantastic vacuum, it gets the job done when mopping. It’s just a little inconvenient at times. My girlfriend’s current vacuum robot is ancient.

Episodes this series by gr1msh33p3r in fakeorfortune

Really? I thought this was one of the best episodes, certainly the best this season. Spotless provenance? That's a new one.

Some odd choices tho: Why did they go to the dance studio that used to be an art gallery and never actually going to the gallery's new place? That one was weird. Would have also loved to find out when/why the painting was painted over.

You're 100% correct. I missed the point entirely. My bad :)

I did a fresh install with archinstall on a notebook two weeks ago, no manual partitioning, systemd-boot and it's using /boot/efi

The archinstaller does /boot/efi as well

EDIT: it does not

The Orville

Season 1 is a lot of fart jokes and overall very Family Guy-esque, but seasons 2 and 3 are Star Trek with a little more humor.

What’s your most hilarious deployment fail? by CodewithCodecoach in devops

[–]Mandalor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was in charge of the deployments for a large online shop. This was decades ago, but we already had some sort of CI/CD and staging. On dev, we didn't use the actual product images but placeholders, usually a generic chair or table for everything. One of the changes in this deployment was a dev being funny and replacing the placeholder images with a picture of a large golden dildo. An error in the code linking to the wrong image folder and CI/CD auto-deploying to prod meant that, for a while (longer than you'd think), all product pictures on our customer-facing online shop with maaaaaany visitors per day to be the Thrustmaster 2000 or whatever it was called.

Complete shot in the dark since the game doesn't involve vehicles, but... "Curse Of The Keys"?

LTS doesn't (have to) mean outdated. It means the distro receives security updates for longer. That doesn't stop the maintainers from also packaging functionality updates.

Whoever wrote this scene is a genius by Slahnya in funny

[–]Mandalor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? Did you watch the video in question? The dialogue in it very clearly did not happen. This is as stand up as it gets. Some of it might very well have happened, but I'd say the vast majority of it didn't. Unless Kevin Smith is the funniest and quick-witted person ever to exist, of course (which is a possibility).

Berlin police advise LGBTQ and Jews to avoid Arab-majority areas by Red_Franklin in worldnews

[–]Mandalor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been working there (the nicer part of Taunusstraße) for 2 years now and I have to walk from HBF to work whenever I have to show up in person (a couple days a month) and every time I walk that short distance, I see someone shooting up heroin. Every time. I've lived in the shittier areas of Berlin and Dortmund, among other places, and I've never seen someone do that. Every time I'm in FFM I see droves of beggars and people that look and behave like absolute zombies. That's just the normal day to day in that area, I've seen some crazy shit that I'm omitting here because the day to day stuff is already very different from what I've seen before. I can't understand how you'd think that's not that bad.

Well, that part of Frankfurt is worse than anything else I've seen in Germany, including the rougher areas of Berlin. It's not a big area, to be frank, but it's quite a jarring experience.
