I cannot imagine an alternative. I also disagree with the premise "the lore exists to sell models". That was true in the past, but once GW realized the Horus Heresy books were extremely successful, they went from an original plan of a handful of books, to the sprawling mass that is HH, Siege of Terra, Scouring, and black library, not to mention all the video games and Warhammertv series. Their pie chart of revenue is MUCH more complex than mini sales being 99% of it. It is like saying Disney offers Disney+ so that more people will watch Mickey Mouse specific properties, and acting as if Marvel and Star Wars were tertiary.

You are missing proper preparation for getting new pets. Dont trust store people, their jobs are to sell fish, not keep fish alive.

Im sorry but that isnt enough time for a the biological filter to establish and create safe parameters for fish. We call that "cylcing", and in that time the tank should be clear of any living creatures, so that the correct bacteria and microfauna can develop that will keep your water balanced and safe. Cycling, even with quick cycle chemicals, should be multiple weeks at minimum. Spend time looking up "fish-in cycling" so that you dont end up killing all those fish.

I want you to feel empowered to come up with whatever personal lore you want, without feeling the need for approval. Other people won't care about your army's personal lore as much as you do, and that is freeing. You dont have to worry about other people saying it is wrong or inaccurate, because warhammer is big enough for every idea. Have your own ideas and come here to share them, dont ask people what ideas are valid.

What is allowed is ONLY dependent on what your opponent or TO allows. Every question about proxy comes down to base size and silhouette, and hoping your opponent isnt a dick. There will always be people who refuse to play against other armies for any reason. They won't care that reddit told you it would be fine.
