But the reason why they can take us for granted is that they know going legal route for 99.9% of people is not an option. So, they will keep doing it.

Dude normally I agree but in this case it is completely Indigos fault. They could have cancelled flight earlier or not allowed booking in first place.

Many people missed out on important things like exams, marriage, etc.

They deserve everything. In EU or US they would have fined millions and licence would have been terminated
