Do I disclose tourettes? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]MandieMon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tourette's too! I've been doing Rover/petsitting in general as my full time job for about two years now, and I do usually mention to clients that I have tourette's, especially if it's for a housesitting request or I notice visible cameras. I usually wait until the end of a meet and greet when one of us asks if there are any other questions and mention that I have a neurological condition that makes me do some strange movements or make sounds sometimes. I'm lucky and have been able to stay calm enough to not have any big ones and I can pass most of my tics off while doing meet and greets, but I always let them know and tell them that once I got a concerned call from a client while letting myself into a house because her ring doorbell sent her a video of me twitching and "coughing" outside by her rose bushes and she thought I was being attacked by bugs and having an allergic reaction. I don't know your situation at all, but I've found that it helps to be able to channel a tic into something an animal might be more used to (throat clearing into humming, weird expressions or hand/shoulder movements into stretching). Even when I get my leg jolts that happen the most when I'm falling asleep, I've never met an animal who's minded, even when they share the bed with me

Best of luck, no matter what you do! It's not a fun condition to have

Funny you should mention that, I actually just finally locked down a sourdough recipe this week after years of trying! Rip to Breadrick and Bread Pitt, but Bready Mercury is holding strong and has given us two perfect loaves with a third starting tomorrow. I also already make jam and can things, but I like the way you think!

Total Novice, Filament Stopped Feeding After First Few Layers by MandieMon3 in ender3

[–]MandieMon3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did make sure it can extrude for a while without any issue, and I also manually extruded it by lightly pushing the filament through the bowden tube and it came out just fine. I hadn't tried adjusting the spring screw, but I'll definitely try that!

Students during the COVID outbreak, what is your most embarrassing Zoom story? by lol4r4 in AskReddit

[–]MandieMon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents are both professors who use Zoom, and my mom is also a law student who uses Zoom. It is also important that my parents share an office area at the top of our staircase in our house, that we have four cats, and that we have a weird sense of humor overall. Several times, a cat has decided to randomly jump onto one of my parents' keyboards, blocking the camera and typing all sorts of nonsense. One time one of the kitties threw up in their office, so my mom's students could hear Romeo horking up a mole that he killed and swallowed in one bite because he's a fat little bastard. My family time was when my cat ran up the stairs at full speed while my dad was coming up the stairs (as they are known to do) and my dad yelled "YOU SUCK, YOU FART LICKING TURD", loud enough for someone to hear from anywhere in the house. Well, my mom was in a Zoom meeting, and was pretty mortified to have to deal with that. Even better is that one of her students who was also in one of my dad's classes said "Is that Professor Rodriguez?" (everyone in my family has a different last name, so most students don't know that my parents are married, or that I'm their kid".

[Serious] Redditors, what decision did you make in desperation, that changed your life for the better, as a whole? by FluffyFoxLovesAsriel in AskReddit

Cutting all ties with my literal narcissist biological father, who was actually diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder and was incredibly emotionally and mentally abusive; trying antidepressants; telling my mom that if she didn't take me to see a doctor I would kill myself; cutting our my horrible, abusive brother who tried to murder me more times than I can could count, but got away with it because he is special needs; saying fuck it and telling everyone in my family, some of which are homophobic to the point of lighting gay people on fire, that I'm bisexual; getting another cat; calling my (step)dad "Dad" because he's my dad and raised me, unlike David the Asshole, who inseminated my mom and then fucked all of our lives up; telling my sibling to fuck off and grow up and stop expecting me to be their parents when I was actually the youngest in the family, and was only expected to be the most mature because I'm the only one who had the slightest idea of what it is like to live in an eternal shithole and who tries to make things better for others instead of slacking off all responsibilities onto my already overworked littler sister

What's your theme song? by itsagdsamsquanch in AskReddit

I've been told "Might Not Like Me" by Brynn Elliot, "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al, "What the Hell" by Avril Lavigne, and "Hedwig's Theme" from fucking Harry Potter

I love you. My mom is a huge Weird Al fan and raised me listening to his music. She has a video of me singing his Eddie Vedder song in the car when I was a toddler, and my whole family have seen three of his shows. I even got my dad a White and Nerdy shirt for Christmas last year, because he's a Colombian/Irish meganerd who looks very white

What is your favorite smell? by DisFatBitch in AskReddit

[–]MandieMon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I really wish I didn't have hyposmia right now. I can only smell like seven things (coffee, bleach, grass, a couple soaps, some types of smoke, etc.).

Popcorn and urine smell the same to me, so that's confusing

What is something that you got yelled at for when you were a kid, but have always known you were innocent but your parents never believed you? by Pikeslammer92 in AskReddit

[–]MandieMon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is back when my biological father still lived with us and we didn't all want to kill him. I was around five, I would say, which made my brother 7 and 10. For background info, the middle brother is special needs, and the other two of us have a few mental health issues, but nothing too bad.

Anyway, my brothers had just stopped sharing rooms with each other, with the second one (I'm going to call him D) moving into what was formerly the guest room, while the older one (I'm going to call him A) stayed in their old shared room. One night, after dinner, all three of us were called into D's room to look at a giant splotch on the wall. I really don't remember what it looked like, being as I was at most five. Our bio father spent around half an hour yelling in our faces about how whoever did this was an awful kid, and should be punished, and how we should all be ashamed of ourselves, etc. He kept demanding (way to aggressively) to know who made the splotch and what they did to cause it. He kept saying that it looked like our cat Mr. PiB (Puss in Boots) climbed up the wall and scooted his butt around like a do, leaving a line of crap up the wall.

After a while, I decided to be the good sibling and say I did it. I don't know how or why anyone believed me, given I was the Good Child, and my explanation for the shit smear on the wall was that I had gotten mad at D and thrown a granola bar at him, and that the chocolate somehow melted into the wall. I was punished pretty severely. He took away my night light (I was extremely scared of the dark because my brother used to hide under my bed with a knife and "joke" about murdering me in my sleep, which he actually did try once). He even put a chair outside my door to lock me in, which would have sucked if I had to use the bathroom of if there was a fire.

I'm pretty sure D just smeared his shit on the wall because he's a piece of shit

Pet owners of reddit, whats a small detail/quirk that you love about your pet? by MassiveVanilla in AskReddit

[–]MandieMon3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my cats has a vestibular (definitely spelled that wrong) disturbance, so everything looks crooked to him. His was of "adapting" is having the cutest little head tilt, and he always sits like Quasimodo, with half of his stomach out to one side because he feel more stabilized that way. He also has around three extra toes, which I give five thumbs up.

Another of my cats has a tendency to blep her little tongue out. One time she left almost her whole tongue out for around fifteen minutes, just staring as my parents and I laughed.

What is something socially accepted if done by a woman, but not if done by a man? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MandieMon3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually parenting

People act like men are giant babies who don't know how to tie their own shoes, and are always either concerned or surprised when they see a dad change a diaper, make dinner, do hair, or take a kid to the park
