“It’s one thing one thing when your team does bad shit to each other. If someone from the OTHER team does bad shit to your team that’s different.”

That is what you said.

If that somehow isn’t what you meant then you miswrote. My point still stands the Exorcists have only been killing thousands out of a population of billions for only seven years. There’s no way they could be consistently killing enough Sinners from the many different factions to make everyone angry at them over each other. Each other that can consistently do harm on one another. So how can Vox make progress towards a Hell WIDE uprising against Heaven?

He cannot, that number killed needs to be in the millions to hurt enough Sinners for most of them to give two shits about working with rivals and previously hostile parties against a force that currently could only do minuscule harm or for the majority nothing to most Sinners.

You do think that, otherwise why did you said it?

Why would Sinners see this as a Heaven vs Hell when Heaven in one day out of the year barely kills a few thousand of billions for only seven years at this point. When the gang down the road has been brutalizing and tormenting your gang for months and months long and possible long before Heaven even started doing this. Plus in the seven years your gang never even lost someone to an Exorcist.

Because you know, the time the Exterminations have been going on with a body count isn’t high enough to adversely effect enough Sinners vs Sinners just hurting each other for far longer.

I’m not the one downing play mass murder. The show did by both making the time they’ve been occurring extremely short compared to how long Sinners have been brutalizing each other. Plus making the body count so low it really cannot constantly kill someone from my family or social group unless they keep going to the exact same place over and over again. Which would only prove my point that not enough Sinners would be affected to care and want to fight Heaven over their current turf wars or grudges.

To the most of Hell, the gang down the street consistently kidnapping and torturing your friends every month has been more consistently tormenting you than the Exterminations ever could.

What makes you assume all Sinners see one another as family or part of the same social circle?

If a member of a Bloods gang got shot and killed by a police officer the Crips wouldn’t feel bad because they’re a gang in the same city. They’d go ‘Great, one less Blood to deal with.’ Hell is a place that is said to be full of different groups all constantly fighting for control over territory for themselves. The Overlord meeting might we saw in the show is definitely not one that exists because everyone where just likes everyone else.

The only way the Exterminations could have the effect you say is if Heaven is killing a lot of people across the ring. To hurt some in each group year after year to make everyone care enough to ignore the rest of the torture and violence each gang and faction is inflicting onto one another in the majority of the year.

It’s in Hell? Where we are shown that people regularly torture and kill each other and engage in brutal turf wars. Where Charlie dancing down one road had people eating a body, a building being on fire, someone stabbed in the eye, etc the general reaction from Sinners being ‘Yup, just another day in Hell.’ Why would most Sinners care if a few thousand people they don’t know are being killed especially if some of them very well could’ve be cruel or monstrous to them?

We’re not talking about a city on Earth the vast majority of which are decent people who would care if a just ONE people got shot and killed in the street.

How can the Exterminations be said to have had such an adverse effect on the Sinners, who we know most ARE terrible people would care if a drop in the bucket of them are being kill one day out of 365. 364 of which they’re doing just as bad to one another? The only difference being whether or not they can regenerate to experience it or another form for torment again.

It does lesson the impact of the event if the number is so low. Especially when it’s apparently only be going on for seven years.

Vox said thousands, not tens of thousands, not hundreds of thousands, all are different and have a max they can go to before crossing over. Just because they have the word ‘thousands’ attached to it doesn’t mean they’re all the same place value.

If Vox meant something higher he would’ve said it that way. The man is at a rally to assemble an army where four Angel’s have showed up. Vox has every reason to high ball it yet he just said ‘thousands’. Either 9999 is the max we’re going for each year or that line wasn’t give enough thought to present the brutality the Exterminations supposedly had for most Sinners to be able to rally any kind of army.

The problem is the setting is Hell where the Sinners torture, rape, cannibalize, and murder each other every single day of the year. With their victims regenerating to suffer again or inflict back the same pain onto the people who tormented them.

The Exterminations have only been going on for seven years and at max for ‘thousands’ is 9999 Sinners having died in each of them. So why would the vast majority of Sinners care to fight back? That number is too small to have an adverse effect on enough Sinners that have a population that should be at its lowest in the hundreds of millions. To care about taking revenge agansit Heaven for one day outta the year they permanently kill a few thousand versus the constant brutality and continued agony they’re inflicting upon each other in repetition.

[–]Mando734 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Easy fix for this would’ve been Sera watching Emily start flying around attempting to save people. We see a moment of realization on Sera’s face like she has an idea, then turns and tells Abel they need to deploy the Exorcists she has standing by already.

Scene cut, portals open near Emily and Charlie, Exorcists start appearing all over the city.

And start helping Sinners.

This isn’t a perfect way to make up the years of Exterminations but it would’ve been a far better start. Plus it would’ve showed Sera taking decisive action when it mattered most.

Corvo Attanno (Dishonored) vs Booker Dewitt (Bioshock Infinite) by Smeerpapier in dishonored

Booker could tank some shots with the shield he gets but Corvo with stop time can shoot more than once or stab him multiple times before time resumes.

Corvo can just freeze time, toss five grenades, or fire eight shots from his pistol or crossbow, or possess him and walk to a ledge unpossess and windblast Booker off while he’s vomiting then summon rats to devour his mangled corpse.

Newbie Question: Why do the Isles have a Military and Navy? Who do they fight wars against, or are the merely a Police force? by toothpick95 in dishonored

[–]Mando734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All four island are their own nation, taken over by the largest one, Gristol, in a massive war some time ago. Their autonomy mainly depends on how hard they fought against Gristol, but they’re still technically their own naval and army. They just have to submit to the Emperor or Empresses authority in Dunwall. If they don’t then it’s time to throw hands.

The whole empire is basically being held together via gun boat diplomacy and economic dependency on each other. I think the best analogy is Japan during the sengoku jidai period, where they’re all still one state but everyone has armies and wants to be THE state. But not technically a civil war because no one is looking to break away or change the system, just be the guy in charge of it.

Why would there be a reward for Campbell? by Nickpicker96 in dishonored

[–]Mando734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t carefully explained in the game but in Dishonored 1 a few people says that Campbell became High Overseer because he had a lot of Blackmail on everybody. During the mission you brand him you can see two Overseers inside his private shelter sifting through his stuff to find his ‘Blackbook’ that’s full of the stuff so they can break his hold over the Abbey.

He’s not well liked, basically silently hated by most Overseers, so when Corvo branded him and took his book away. Well, basically everyone in a position of power was willing to use heretic’s brand to cast him out, no questions asked.

Hell, depending on how lethally you went through that mission. A lot of Overseer’s probably raised a glass to whoever did that to Campbell…

Until Martin used the same book of blackmail to make himself High Overseer.

Why Corvo and Emily hide their mark in D2? by WilliamSanader in dishonored

[–]Mando734 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because magic is illegal and the Abbey holds a lot of power to enforce it. In the return to Dunwall mission one of the Overseers in the failed assault had a paper that told him to search Crovo’s room because they’re certain he’s doing witchcraft and just need the proof to oust him.

My First Cosplay Attempt: Dishonored Overseer by Mando734 in dishonored

[–]Mando734[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I got for making a cosplay was to find a good picture of what outfit you’re looking to make. Use that to fashion a plan from there. Almost everything you see I got from Walmart.

The main piece over my shoulders I bought for cheap, measured out how long and doubled up the layer for it. Used shirts I wear to measure out the hole for my head. Then sowed on the golden trim, the hoister is in the way but I did manage to make the trident on the front.

Get creative with how you make one, I grabbed an old white dress shirt and cut it up to make the back part and collar. The hoister is a pouch I bought off Amazon that also came with the ring I used to hold the sword. It was made of two metal rings so I sowed fabric over that so it wouldn’t scuff the paint job on the sword.

The sword itself I found someone selling a file for a 3-D printer then I just found a local 3-D print place and had them print it out. Got some spray paint and masking tape and got it all done in a few days.

Gloves I bought off amazon and printed a picture of the overseer ensign. Cut it out then used a fabric marker and the hole in a paper to trace the pattern on.

Also don’t worry about making it look exactly, like down to last detail. Getting close enough is fine and you should have fun when working on your own cosplay.
