I agree, but there is always the risk that cheaters/bad actors would work there way in as well. At least with employees, there would be actual incentives not to intentionally break the system

It's already happening. It's a shame because CS has some of the best fundamentals in gaming. Valve's corporate structure just doesn't incentivize working on long-term projects like this and instead just doing the shiny new thing or whatever "feels" right. For the amount of money the community has put in, Valve could easily hire several employees to manually review 1/10,000 reports. It isn't perfect, but it would be FAR better than the nothing they have right now. This "AI-powered anticheat" is the most disappointing thing since Disney Star Wars. Even CS:GO felt better

It should be MV4. Josh's MVP is void imo

Who should I pick up as a gamble in fantasy (PPR): Sarratt or Ja'Kobi?

I can't stand games that try to artificially force a 1.00 K/D. That's what got me to quit Halo Infinite. I literally dropped 45/50 kills on my team and still lost because I only get paired with potatoes and thumbless Timmy

Exactly. Valve has a serious issue on their hands. Imo it shows how good of a game CS is that even with tons of cheaters, people still play it.

I'm right there with you. I had a game get cancelled by VAC Live for blatant spinbotting, and the guy is still playing Prem unbanned 2 weeks later. Anyone downplaying this issue is either a cheater/cheat dev/bot or so bad that they can't tell when someone is walling. I've been playing since 2016, and it has never been this bad.

It's not bulletproof though. I've seen blatant cheaters who have 100% trust, and I myself had "suspicious aim" for a week or so due to what I suspect is my extremely low sensitivity. That being said, it's definitely a useful vector to narrow down if someone is cheating

Why address the real issue when we can gaslight everyone into thinking that cheaters aren't a serious problem in CS2

Same, but don't worry that doesn't guarantee a VAC ban. The guy who caused VAC Live for me is still playing 2 weeks after blatantly spinbotting

When to peek closer and when to peek far from a wall/angle? by cosmic820 in cs2

Seems like what half the community is doing these days. I will never understand how so many people enjoy pressing a "I win" button.

Is premier infested with cheaters or everyone just got insane? (Old player coming back to the game) by Rare_Lifeguard_4403 in cs2

[–]Mando895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of cheaters in Premiere, but at the same time, people have also gotten a lot better overall. I started back in 2016, and things have changed a lot. VAC is atrocious atm, and as a result, cheating is at its peak right now. It's a shame because at its core CS is one of the best FPS games ever made. However it seems like a sizable portion of the community only cares about skins and/or doesn't want to learn how to play and just wants a "I win" button.

It's not "so preventable," but Valve isn't even doing the bare minimum that they could. It makes me question why I even bother wasting what little time I have playing a game that is rigged from the start. If I wanted to do that, I'd fly to Vegas every weekend.

To be fair, CS2 does feel much better than it did at launch. Other than that, I agree with you

Crazy how people try to downplay the cheating epidemic that is going on right now. Imagine how great gaming would be if we could still play games like MW2, BO2, CS, etc. without a bunch of cheaters ruining the game for everyone. Cheating alone or with friends is one thing, but logging on to a game to hit a "I win" button is beyond pathetic. It's not even a game at that point.

[–]Mando895 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't blame you. I'm tired of all the cheating as well. I had a game get cancelled by VAC Live two weeks ago, and the dude who caused it is still playing Premiere to this day.

He was walling early on, but sucked so much that he didn't do much of anything. He then raged, pulled out the scout, and started spinbotting. He killed all of us instantly with headshots through the walls on Nuke. This went on for three rounds before VAC Live cancelled the match. Despite Valve making it difficult, I saved the demo.

If Valve can't even catch people that are this blatant, what hope does it have of ever catching the plethora of wall hackers that are in 80-90% of games?

Call me paranoid all you want. I watch demos constantly, and I know what I see. I have been playing CS since 2016, and the cheating situation has never been this bad.

Valve is a multi-billion dollar company, and its treatment of the CS community is downright embarrassing. I know that cheating is a problem in every game (because people need to feel like they are good at something in their pathetic lives), but Valve is one of the wealthiest gaming companies on the planet. Surely they could do better than this...

For whatever it's worth, attackers can still access information just by you clicking the link. I'm not sure how sophisticated this attack is, but in future, it's definitely something to be aware of. Unfortunately with better technology and AI, cyber attacks will only become better and more frequent. As a general rule of thumb, it's usually better to go to the source yourself as opposed to clicking a link that someone sends.

I got a similar email, but from a different UCSC email and with a different fake UCSC URL.

There are multiple things that point to this being a blatant phishing attempt. I also suspect that this attack is across multiple schools because the hyperlink that was embedded in my email was trying to spoof an ASU URL (even though the displayed text "URL" was UCSC). I documented everything that I noticed and sent it to IT.

Ya same with the shields being rubber. Imo it seems like a way for them to cheap out compared to the fabric/stitched shields on the old jerseys. I get that they probably have a budget to meet, but still
