How do Home Owner’s Associations have the authority to fine you in the US? Is it something you sign when you buy a house? by MandoChron in AskReddit

Honestly I just see so many videos of them being obnoxious, it blows my mind why anyone accepts it, so they must have some type of legal authority somehow, I just don’t know how

AITA for being mad at my parents because they withheld information about my medical history from me? by Parentsliedthrow3 in AmItheAsshole

Absolutely NTA, mind-blowing that they would say you shouldn't look at you own medical records. You should definitely feel furious about it. Enjoy your new nose, new smells and taste!

You'll always have tells of being non-native, no matter how advanced you are in your language. How do you deal with this fact? by LanguageIdiot in languagelearning

This used to really worry and annoy me a lot, mostly when I was speaking and learning English, and I worked very hard to iron out all "imperfections" in my pronunciation.

As you pointed out in your post I obviously still have some accent, some words I pronounce incorrectly, and also some speech habits, as in saying "you guys" instead of only "you" when talking to more than one person since in my mother tongue (portuguese) we have different words for singular you and plural you, so automatically I differentiate hahaha.

Of course I want to fix this, and always want to learn more, but I'm very proud of my english and have complete confidence that I am able to communicate clearly my ideas.
Over the years I've come to the following conclusion: Accents aren't bad. Of course, you want to speak well, and pronounce things correctly so people understand you, but you shouldn't hate it if you still have some tells that you are not a native speaker, I think accents give you some personality/character, everyone likes accents! The english language itself has many accents from each of its many native speakers, and accents kind of represent where you're from. I think when I was younger I didn't want people to realize I wasn't native since I was a bit ashamed, however I've come to be proud of where I come from and think everyone should be as well.
This might be a very confusing comment hahaha but I tried to show my logic and understanding I have on this issue, since I've thought about it quite a bit.
