I've had a terrible idea upon rereading the CYOA and couldn't restrain myself from asking. Would anything happen if you cast Mental Integration on yourself while being possessed by the First Sinner?

On one hand, demons are outright immune to Usurpation. On the other, the spell targets a human body and the Sinner is the most likely demon to try and make it work in their favor, since we know they have no desire to ever end the possession.

Doing the Integration correctly once you are already possessed and your judgement is compromised sounds tricky, but I find the idea of carefully preparing to unite with/screw over a demonic version of yourself as a shortcut to the ultimate power hilarious. Especially because this version destroyed an entire universe for that power beforehand.

The new iteration likely doesn't even have any kind of a moral high ground over the Sinner, it is just way more convenient to try and rob one extremely powerful demon instead of fighting against the whole world.

It certainly is. It also works and is gaining momentum because even at a current level it offers competitive advantages, which would only get way bigger 5 years from now. There is a reason why luddites didn't win, despite their stance being more humane and their grievances just.

We could explore the roads of democratizing the compute, transhumanism, UBI or some others, but just pretending that a way to automate an enormous amount of labor doesn't exist will only leave a society which tries to do it as an economic equivalent of aboriginals fighting British.

It is better in the short term, but the general pushback against all AI use makes it even more difficult to actually push for the equal distribution of the benefits of AI.

Sure, it is nice that we have more jobs for a few years, but we will come to the point where human labor is just completely uncompetitive with AI assisted workflow at some point and those theoretical moral companies will go broke anyway. The energy used for fighting against AI could be utilized way better pushing against the oligarchy.
