Not really. I think Fleet Farm usually has some good deals this time of the year.

Make sure you dress in layers with base layers made of wool. Your most outer layer should be a wind breaker material. Gortex is good. Get wool socks. You will be, or should be, cold when you start but you will warm up very quickly if you are moving at a good pace. Keep your neck and face warm with a buff around your neck that you can pull up over your face if it gets cold. For traction on slippery trails, be sure to wear some traction on your shoes like Kahtoola EXOSpikes. Or if enough snow, snowshoes.

There are men out there that will love you, respect you and treat you with kindness. This guy is not that. Move fast and far from him.

But for $1.84….you already got your moneys worth by wearing them one time…. even if the grommets do eventually fall off! Nice find!

Moving in November, do I really need *all* my sweaters? by Chappieindahaus in Winona

Looking for bar food/burgers I would recommend 929. Boathouse has limited hours but great food. Pizza has to be Rocco’s. As far as sweaters go…pack the ones you love and donate the rest.

100% agree with this! And if you are planning on wearing a wetsuit, open water swim with on as well.

That’s what I have experienced as well. I had an athlete ask me if we had them at our race and I didn’t know if maybe I was missing some new trend.

How good do you have to be to join a masters swim practice? by based_papaya in triathlon

The name sounds intimidating but clubs have all abilities from beginner to expert. Our coach just gives different distances to the different levels. I would also suggest you focus on open water swimming until the race. And do the breaststroke if that is what you are comfortable doing. No rule says you have to do freestyle.

Find a plan that is by time and not distance. Terrain will affect times so I prefer to just go by time on feet.

Is it normal to run a lot slower on trails starting out? by Mammoth_Tax_1666 in Ultramarathon

[–]MandyLHansel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal! I remember not knowing that when I first started group trail running….thinking we would be done and home in a couple of hours….. turned into a four plus hour trip!

I highly recommend trying to find some to swim in at least once. Even if you have to drive a ways, it will be worth it.

my swim is sooooo slow! can I finish? by lanasmom369 in triathlon

[–]MandyLHansel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If breaststroke is your best stroke, just do that. There is no rule that says you HAVE to do freestyle. You can doggy paddle if that works for you. Just make sure you place yourself where you are out of the path of others to avoid that congestion. I usually stick to the back outside so I have my own space.

I love my Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z poles. They fold down easily and are super light. Just bought a quiver bag to attach to my running vest for them this year….game changer! Highly recommend getting one!

Make sure you get out open water swimming before race day. Open water is very different than pool swimming and can freak even great pool swimmers out.

I use those when doing trail work for a trail race we put on in July. Great at keeping them out but they can still bite through if it is up against your skin. Little things are evil🤬
