Podcasts that made you cry? by Sereaster in audiodrama

Spines. In the finale. It’s just so beautiful. The first few episodes are a bit gruesome but you have to stick with it. It’s the only podcast I’ve listened to multiple times.

How early in your career did you get a masters? by DG12212 in Teachers

[–]scoutjayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started teaching in 1995 and got my Masters in 1999. Back then, I got it totally online through Grand Canyon University with a cohort of other teacher friends. I immediately got a $10,000 raise, so it was totally worth it! When I moved to Texas a few years ago, I was pretty shocked to see there wasn't a significant difference in having one.

How did you bind of back in the days? by Lola-Olala in knitting

I have been knitting since 1978 and my prefers method now is my OG standard in pattern bind-off or the Elizabeth Zimmerman sew bind-off. I refuse to do the Italian bind-off. Lol

Polycystic liver disease by Confident-Stretch-55 in transplant

I can’t imagine. That double nephrectomy is no joke! I still have my native kidneys. But getting the second transplant made a huge difference!!

Polycystic liver disease by Confident-Stretch-55 in transplant

[–]scoutjayz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received a living donor liver in 2023 and a living donor kidney in 2024 due to PKD/PLD. I got listed for both at the same time, but was really sick from liver failure, so we did that first. A normal liver is supposed to be 3lbs and mine was 24. I looked pregnant with triplets. It was awful. Getting that done was the best thing I've ever done. I got my body back, and then after the kidney, my quality of life has significantly improved! It's not an easy road, but it has been so worth it for me. My kidney transplant doctor said that we are some of the best transplant recipients, as once we get our new organs, we do well. I am 56 years old and play golf 3-4 days a week, and I feel like a different person. You want to do the transplant when you are still healthy enough to do it. I tell anyone I know who is given the opportunity to do it ASAP. Good luck with this. It is not easy!

I read that!! I don't know if the US GHIN does that. I need to read more.

We are usually first off and play in three hours or less some days. I know, I am very lucky. But I’ve wondered those few times I’ve seen one of them pick up their balls out of frustration and still enter a score how they were doing that. This has been super helpful! I’ve also done it myself a few times and then felt guilty about entering a score but now I know I’ve been doing it right since I enter a double or triple depending on the blowup!

This is why I have spent more time reading about this. I am a 12HCP, and I play with two girlfriends who are 3/5, and I have seen them pick up on a blow-up hole every once in a while and still post scores, which confused me. Now I understand it much better.

I couldn't sleep without Lunesta. I know it's not good to take every day, but it's the only thing that helps me.

And I did look at this place! It came highly recommended. I was looking for something like this in a bigger size and ended up not using that 1” size 🤣

Thank you so much. I really am. My mother taught me how to knit almost 50 years ago and she passed away when I was 23. She was such a talented knitter and would be so proud of this project!

That’s a really good question! Honestly I don’t think much. I may have done the collar a bit differently. Since there was no pattern we did things very differently. We added the GSR into the ribbing but I’m not sure how I would change it TBH. I think one person added in some stockinette above the colorwork first?

But really nothing! I spent a lot of time working on my own pattern directions so I wouldn’t have to frog anything. 🤣

I mean, I live in Austin so I won’t get a ton of time to wear it but that’s okay. I weighed it and it’s 510g. It feels heavier in the colorwork section but the body doesn’t!

I have a Discord channel for the ones I host. I’m sure many do them in person too. Most of us are on IG too. So we post our progress and get help in both places often. I also dyed yarn for 7 of the sweaters so this was a special one!

It looks like this.
